Till now you might have checked the CAT answer keys and luckily you might be scoring an awesome percentile. So what next? The goal is yet not fully achieved. You have reached halfway and halfway is still left. And one thing that forms an important part of this remaining half is the B-Schools application. So, in this article, I would be covering the selection criteria of FMS, Delhi, and some pieces of advice by FMS students that can help you in filling the application form properly.

FMS, Delhi Selection Criteria

From the students selected for the Interview Process, the following criteria would be used to select the final candidates:
  1. Weighted CAT 2020 Score - 50%
  2. Marks obtained in Class X - 10% (60% and above but less than 75%: 5%, 75% and above: 10%)
  3. Marks obtained in Class XII - 10% (60% and above but less than 75%: 5%, 75% and above 10%)
  4. Discussion on Statement of Purpose - 10%
  5. Extempore – 5%
  6. Personal Interview - 15%
An additional 5 marks shall be awarded to the women candidates who appear for the interview. As you see in the above selection criteria, 10 marks are given for the SOP which is there in the FMS application form. So, I have curated below some advice from the current FMS students that can be helpful while filling the form.

Aman Aggarwal, FMS Delhi (2020-2022)

Aman Aggarwal belongs to Delhi and has completed his UG in B.Com (Hons) from Delhi University. He scored 99.93 %ile in CAT’19.

His Advice For SOP

The interviews are conducted by FMS faculty members. They want intelligent and hardworking students (the most important attribute for a teacher), agile enough to fit in any company. Frame the answer covering all those aspects. In addition, showcase your abilities and past work in a way that suits your ambition. Your SOP should reflect what part FMS will play in achieving your goals.

Aman Srivastava, FMS Delhi (2020-2022)

Aman Srivastava hails from Gorakhpur, UP. and has completed his UG in B.Tech (Computer Science). He scored 99.88 %ile in CAT'19. He loves writing poetry and stories. Movies are life for him.

His Advice For SOP

Do not alter or brag about your achievements because you can easily get caught during your interviews. Don't delve too deep into any specific detail about you. It may backfire. You need to be true to yourself. Figure out how an MBA at FMS is going to help advance/kickstart your professional career and why you want to get an MBA from FMS.

Pranav Gupta, FMS Delhi (2020-2022)

Pranav Gupta belongs to Delhi and has completed his UG in B.Tech(IT) from DTU. He scored 99.78 %ile in CAT'19.

His Advice For SOP

It shall basically answer how does an MBA, focusing on FMS, fits into your life journey/ scheme of life at this point of time. It shall be what have you done, what you intend to do and how would FMS-MBA fit into that. Be confident while answering questions from your SOP in the interview, otherwise, it would reflect that your SOP is not your own but crafted to look good.

Arushi Jain, FMS Delhi (2020-2022)

Arushi Jain hails from Chandigarh and has done Bachelors in Computer Science from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. She has 2 years of work experience as a Software Engineer at an MNC in Gurgaon. She scored 99.69 %ile in CAT'19.

Her Advice For SOP

Give SOP a personal touch. It should not sound like it has been copied from somewhere. Don't make it artificial. Spend some time reflecting on your goals and purpose. It should come from within.

Devesh Kandpal, FMS Delhi (2020-2022)

Devesh Kandpal hails from Dehradun and has done UG in B.Tech (Computer Science). He has 1-year of experience as an Assistant System Engineer at TCS. He scored 99.93 %ile in CAT'19.

His Advice For SOP

You don't have to be an expert in writing to draft a good SOP. Just look into yourself. Ponder over why you want to do an MBA. Why do you want to join FMS? What are your future goals and aspirations? And the work is done. Once you have clarity on these aspects, writing 100 words SOP would be a cakewalk for you.
