Part A
It was a glorious day. I was getting ready for my first ever day in corporate life, wearing my brand-new Peter England Business formals also donning tailor made Peter England Blazer. As I was putting on my shoes from Pataloons, my friend called. He had been waiting for me for about twenty minutes already. He was furious. I had to calm him down. I needed a plan. I had an Idea, just like my Idea network. I thought of telling him I spilled coffee on my shirt and had to change my cloths again. The truth was I was admiring myself and my perfect fitting tailor-made Peter England suit for last 15 minutes in the mirror. But as soon as I lift the call he told me to stop staring at myself. He knew my plan already. I though for a while, how is this even possible? How did he already know my excuse? Only one answer made sense, He had Idea network as well. That must have been the reason. I hurried downstairs, we booked a cab and went on our first journey to work on a well maintained Ultratech cement road.
Aditya Birla Group has affected me more than I can imagine. Louie Phillipe, Van Heusen have been the brands I aspire to buy since my childhood. In childhood days, when our house was getting build I have played hide and seek behind huge piles on Ultratech cement sacks. Forever 21 has some kind of special effect on my sister. Peter England helps me maintain my professional image in corporate life.
Aditya Birla Group has been a key factor in nation building, literally, through Ultratech Cement. They were also instrumental in democratizing cell phone service in India through Idea cellular network.
Part B
Making myself great again!
I have done my schooling from Marathi medium. In 11th std I got fairly good in writing skills. As I entered in my undergrad in Vellore institute of technology, I had a realization that I need to get my English-speaking skills honed. As VIT has students from all over India, English was a default language there. I like to make people smile and laugh. It frustrated me that I cannot convey my humor to my peers. So I took a decision to get my English fluency up to the par. The first thing I did was I started thinking in English. I watched a ton of English movies and TV shows to notice how the native English speakers frame the sentences. I also started speaking in English whenever and wherever possible. I got better fairly quickly and could catch up to my peers in about six months. My biggest learning was to get better at something I need to stop pondering about what I can do and just start taking action instead. Pondering over improving did not give me success at all, taking action did.
One day during this semester, I had an opportunity to speak in English. I was hesitant for a second. I started talking nonetheless. Words were flowing out of my mouth very easily. I was able to convey my thoughts clearly during the presentation. I gained massive confidence that day, I felt a strong sense of achievement. I celebrated by getting extra whipped cream on my coffee.
