Clearing CAT is a different journey, and clearing the interviews is a different hurdle all together! My best call was IIM Calcutta; I was happy for about 10mins after I got the mail for an interview. Nightmares started again; I don't have anything special for them to select me. I'm a fresher, definitely no chance of choosing me. I met a few people during preparing for interviews; we used to practice together, take mock interviews.
I had low confidence and no hopes that I'll make it. So I decided I'll give my best and overcome this low confidence of mine, the worst-case scenario would be that I'll be rejected from all the colleges. But I'll learn something out of it.
I had a lot of things to work on, be it facial expressions or reading about some news in much detail. I started slowly and steadily. My first interview was of IIM Kozhikode, and it was a pretty chill interview. No grilling at all, and I was continually smiling throughout the interview, maybe because I was nervous and excited both at the same time and didn't want to show it on the face. But that day, I realized that there's no need to worry so much about the interviews, just be yourself. And then, the second interview was IIM Calcutta. It was a very decent interview, questions included about my hobbies, a lot of math questions, and plans questions. And I never felt so confident ever before in my life. The thought that I was able to answer confidently in front of such experienced panellists is the real victory here. And I was thrilled, and even if I didn't get in the experience was very fulfilling. My mom was thrilled with my performance; she was the only person who believed that all of these crying, cribbing, and efforts would work. Thanks to the pandemic had to wait a lot more for the results.
So I was watching a movie on my laptop, and a mail notification appeared from IIM C Admissions where the subject was an MBA offer letter. My heart just skipped a beat! I quickly open my Gmail, and I couldn't believe it. So to be sure, I also went to the website and entered my CAT id and email, and it said converted!
I just got up and ran to the other room where my Mumma was sleeping, I started to shake her hard like
'Wake Up Mummaa'! I made it into IIM Calcutta!! My dad, mom, and my younger sister, we all firstly went in front of Maa Ambe idol in our mandir and joined hands and thanked her for this because it is she who decides everything! My mom hugged me so tight and started crying as she couldn't study further after her 12th due to family income problems at that time and always wanted me to study hard and achieve all the dreams
I hugged her again and said that we did it, Mumma! My mom is a constant source of motivation. She is my friend and also a typical mom ❤, but she always motivates me and supports me in my dreams!
Getting into IIM Calcutta is a dream come true. And this is just the start of my journey; many more hurdles and challenges are yet to come! I hope the lessons that I learned in this journey help me further and also excited to learn many new things in the next journey!
I hope all the people reading this get motivated by it and do not doubt themselves! Believe in yourself. Even if things are not working out, keep going
Give your BEST! Because then there would be nothing to regret about even if things don't work out because you didn't give up and gave your BEST
And if things are not working out, vent it out, cry it out; Just don't give up! There's always going to be scope for improvement
So give your best and keep working towards a better version of yourself ! :)
