In our #SettleForMore series, powered by TAS, this time we have someone who had a natural bent towards social services from the very beginning. Being a part of the National Social Service at SRCC to now working on multiple community projects with NGOs while being part of Tata CliQ, Tanvi Seth has had a fulfilling journey so far with the Tata group. To understand her journey better, from being a part of Tata Capital to joining the TAS program and now working with Tata CliQ, and what it means for her to SettleForeMore, we spoke to Tanvi. Here are the excerpts: *This is a promoted feature

It has been a life changing journey. At SRCC, being part of the National Social Service was at a college level which got amplified when I joined the Tata Group. Before being part of TAS, I had worked with Tata Capital for three years. So in a span of 4 years I have almost worked in 6 Tata companies, including the stints offered in the 1 year TAS program, which has changed the perspective of the Tata company for me.

I started my career with Tata Capital after SRCC. With my bent towards social services, while working with the Tata group, Learning Links came into the picture. It had a project called Road to School in Tamil Nadu, which helps government schools bridging the learning gap between teachers and students. It also helped fill the gaps by conducting extra classes for the betterment of students. I used to help make concept modules for the assessment tests that used to be conducted by Learning Links for understanding the knowledge gaps.

I grew up learning that whatever resources we have at our disposal, we should believe in giving back to society. At NSS I was teaching and even with the Road to School project, I helped with setting up modules for aptitude tests. Hence, I figured that teaching is one way where I can share my knowledge for helping others and I built on that. My motto is, whatever skill I pick up, I will try and harness that to my full potential and then impart the same to others.

For me Settle for More is having a long term and forward looking approach. The TAS program is designed in such a way that you are pushed to achieve better results than what you did yesterday. And that is a principle that I also believe in.

I would say it has widened my horizon. I worked in finance, traditional marketing and now in a business development role. There was a time in Tata Capital when I was managing a regional portfolio for credit and now I am negotiating large scale dealership partners, which essentially affects the profitability and revenue of the company. It has helped me evolve as a business manager and has given me confidence to go forward and scale heights within the group.

The plan is to continue working with consumer facing initiatives. The e-commerce business is a very competitive space and COVID has also amplified the importance of digital. In the long run I would like to continue having a consumer facing role. I also want to continue giving back to the community as that has always been my motto. Maybe as the time goes by, in a more structured manner, so that the efforts can reach out to more beneficiaries in the coming years.
