The 17th edition of the Financial Times ranking of Masters in Management (MiM) has been released. A record 124 MiM programmes took part in the ranking process in 2021, up from 114 in 2020. To be able to participate in the rankings, schools must be full-time, cohort-based, and accredited by either AACSB or Equis. There are many more factors that need to be meet for a school to be eligible. Here is a list of the top schools!

FT MIM Rankings 2021 - Five Important Highlights

  1. The University of St Gallen in Switzerland has topped the Financial Times 2021 ranking of masters in management degrees(FT MIM) for the 11th year in a row. 
  2. Four top French business schools — HEC Paris, Essec, ESCP, and Edhec — ranked in the top tier of 14 leading schools assessed by the FT. Two United Kingdom schools — London Business School (LBS) and Imperial — were also in this tier. Schools from Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Spain and the Czech Republic also featured.
  3. IIM-A was ranked globally fifth in one of the criteria, careers service, which measures the effectiveness of the careers service in supporting student recruitment.
  4. Among other Indian b-schools, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Indore shared the joint rank of 79 with UK's Lancaster University Management School followed by IIM Udaipur at 82nd spot.
  5. The most notable aspect of the 2021 ranking is the continued dominance of French Master in Finance programs in France. Their schools have taken the top five places on the list for three years in a row.

Indian B-Schools in FT MIM Rankings of 2021

A total of six institutes across India have secured a place in the best b-schools listed by the Financial Times for Masters in Management. The varsity remains the undefeated champion for the 11th year in a row, from India too IIM-Ahmedabad has maintained its lead. Apart from IIM-Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore, the new generation IIM Udaipur is the third IIM to have held a spot in the top 100 for the third consecutive year. IIM Udaipur was also featured in the recently released National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2021 of the HRD Ministry in the Top 20 Management Institutes in India again, with a score of 60.94. Rank 20: IIM-Ahmedabad  Rank 21: IIM-Calcutta  Rank 36: SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Rank 36: IIM-Bangalore  Rank 72-IIM-Udaipur IIM-A was ranked globally fifth in one of the criteria - careers service rank which measures the effectiveness of the careers service in supporting student recruitment. Despite dropping from their respective spots from last year, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A), SPJIMR and IIM Bangalore (IIM-B) continued to find their place among the global top 50 in the latest Financial Times Masters in Management (MiM) Rankings 2021. While IIM-A fell six places to 26th rank in the current edition, down from 20th rank last year, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S P Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) fell from 36th place in the previous edition to 39th place. Of the three, IIM Bangalore saw the highest dip, falling from 36th place to 47th place in the latest edition. On the other hand, IIM Calcutta which was ranked 21st last year did not get ranked this year. Among other Indian business schools (B-schools), IIM Lucknow and IIM Indore shared the joint rank of 79 with UK's Lancaster University Management School, followed by IIM Udaipur at 82nd spot. Methodology

The ranking has 17 criteria carrying varied weightage including, current average salary, salary increase, value for money, career progress, female faculty, female students, women on board, international course experience, international mobility, international board, international students and faculty with doctorates, among others.
