Part A:
During the first month of PGDM at IMT Ghaziabad, I met a lot of new people from different backgrounds, various states across India with varying value systems and discipline. Then one day, a new admission walked in to class. He introduced himself and the whole class went into gasp. His surname was Birla. Such is the charm and charisma that comes along with the name of the company. The respect and effect that comes in with the aura of the brand is unmatched throughout the country. Holding generations as loyal customers for such a long period is a task which is generally unsurmountable in this era of social media where one mistake can lead to blunder in the image of any brand. The Aditya Birla Group has over the years demonstrated how to start a profitable business from scratch and bring its reputations to heights and expanding the customer base in the apparel and non-apparel sector. Holding flourishing brand names like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Idea Cellular, Birla Sun Life Insurance under its umbrella, the ABG has set benchmarks for every industry in the country. The way its business has grown exponentially and spread out in every part and corner is the milestone achievement every business wants to achieve. It has made personal connect with the customer and their trust and loyalty to the brand remains unshaken by any hit from competition. With globalisation in the market and the competition levels soaring up, maintaining the height of their business in every sector, ABG has shown exceptional business standards in the market.
Part B:
The name Van Heusen of the ABG, has played a crucial role on the turn of my life. After graduation, I was very passionate about wanting to do a Post-Graduation in management, which brought me to the gate of CAT. On the first attempt of the CAT examination, I scored way too low to secure admission in any reputed college to have a chance at my dream. I was low on motivation and self-confidence. I started doubting myself and the subsequently the dream I had seen started blurring. My friends and family tried to encourage me and reinstate the confidence I had lost. It is usually the smaller things that help you pull yourself out of negatives and bring in a positive perspective in difficulty. I had never thought that wearing a formal suit would show me what I really need to do and be deserving of it. The suit I wore was of none other than Van Heusen. The way I felt after being in it gave me a perspective to see myself in a different light and view the opportunity that stood out in front of me to become a different person than what I was at that moment. I started studying like my life depended on it(which, somehow it did). I kept every distraction at arms length and concentrated wholeheartedly. I never knew at that time how one incident was shaping the curve of my life. Now, after almost a year, looking back I realise, had it not been the passion to be deserving of that formal power suit, I probably would not be a part of one of my dream colleges. I have only ABG to thank for this opportunity.
