“WHY ADITYA BIRLA GROUP IS BIG IN MY LIFE”

Aditya Birla Group is big, very big in my life like everyone else. Third largest private sector company in India with revenue over $44 billion has got to be somewhere in the life of every Indian. With a plethora of services and over 1,20,000 employees under its umbrella it has been one of the key members that constitute the backbone of our economy and has impacted my day-to-day life eventually. Services and industries ranging from cement, textiles, branded apparel, finance, chemicals, fertilisers etc. have impacted directly or indirectly my life. For me, the branded apparel and fashion segment of ABG Group has been close to my heart. I have always cherished brands like Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Louis Philippe for their premium quality and Planet Fashion has been the hub to buy my outfits belonging to these brands. Pantaloons has been another favourite whenever I have wished to get a good deal at a low budget.  Ultratech cement being the number one cement industry of India has been the building block of the developing India and it fills me with pride to be a part of this nation. I was hugely influenced by the views of Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla who stated “leadership lies at the heart of knowing what we stand for” and realised that its all about trusting your strengths, values, ethics and growing at your own pace. They portrayed that it is tonnes of patience and hard-work that made them turn into a global powerhouse.

“HOW I OVERCAME CHALLENGES TO ACHIEVE MY AMBITIONS IN LIFE SO FAR”

My life thankfully has not really been a road with a lot of heavy struggles. But some small things here and there are part of life no matter what. Overcoming these obstacles and moving on is all life is about. Being a quiet and timid kid in my school days I had been bullied occasionally. For me never being aggressive and embracing everything with politeness worked to counter that. In my childhood, being underweight used to be a challenge as I used to fall sick very often and my confidence had always stayed low because of that. Realizing how important it is to eat healthy and work out, I was able to overcome that too. When I grew older, I realized my interest in science and wished to pursue pharmacy like my father. Low grades initially did pull me down, but then right mentoring and dedication at the right time helped me to rise and rise high as I came up as an academic scholar in class 12th and even got admission in my dream college. Those four years, managing some events and teams here and there, I realized that after exploring the technical aspects, learning management and making a career out of it will be my cup of tea. At that time I aimed to be in a top management college of India. But again, low scores in mocks and preparation not up to the mark dipped my confidence to a new low. At that time, I discovered an approach that worked for me. Rather than setting enormous unachievable goals, I started setting very small achievable goals with tiny improvements in myself every day. The entrance exams approached and I was scoring pretty well in  mocks at that time. That is where my confidence boosted and I was sitting calm and composed on the day of my NMAT exam. I passed the exam with flying colours and even cleared the interview with the help of confidence that I had gained. Today, I am typing this article sitting in the reading room of one of the top B-schools i.e. NMIMS, Mumbai and I hope to stay positive for the rest of my life to reach my remaining ambitions.  #NMIMSMumbai#ABGLPWooMe
