Having recruited from top colleges like ISB and INSEAD, he talks of how talent abroad comes with an average of 5 years experience, while in India, talent with lesser experience to gets placed. He talks of how the hiring culture is different in India as compared to the rest of the world.
Then, going into the current scenario, he talks of how office culture and HR will change due to COVID 19 and what HR needs to do in order to make this transition smooth. Today, the situation isn't a normal work-from-home scenario, and that needs to be accounted for when redesigning HR policies and strategies. One advice he gives students is to upskill themselves and get industry mentors. Key Takeaways:
1) While in India freshers are given a chance to work in big companies, the same is not true for companies abroad; work experience plays a big role in you getting placed in a good company.
2) Hiring for skills and attitude isn't a black-and-white thing. One needs to stratify it to be able to make the most of it.
3) One question you might be asked - What is not on your LinkedIn Profile?
4) Get yourself an industry mentor. They will help you understand current trends and better prepare you for your career.
5) 80% of meetings that happen today can be done away with, and replaced by emails.
6) For a remote work setup, HR will have to rethink their policies and strategies.
