“It feels great to be straight out of your B School and into a top company. It is amazing to achieve your dream and I feel like I am on cloud nine”. These are the words of a very excited Gaurav Sangal of JK Business School who was recently placed with ICICI Securities. It’s one of the biggest brand names in the country and Gaurav will be starting out as a Management Trainee with the company. With that, his brisk transition from a PGDM student to a well-groomed professional is complete.

That’s a remarkable achievement in itself for the young one, who claims to never really have been good with academics. But things changed for him when he came to JK Business School to pursue his management dreams. “I wanted to do my PGDM to get highly a specialized education that would be an asset for my career”, he says. “I had heard about the institute from my seniors who told me of the learning environment here, the hostel and other facilities offered. It helped me make up my mind about coming here”.

Gaurav also talks about the rich history and tradition of the institute and how it creates a dynamic learning environment where you come across people from different nationalities, all working towards the same goal. “My time with the institute has been an unforgettable period of my life”, says the grateful alum. “It is a B School where it’s not just about learning, as students are also well taken care of. It gave me an opportunity to explore my true potential and to prove myself”.

And now that Gaurav has proven himself with the placement, he is looking forward to the challenges of his job and the responsibilities that come with it: “I will have to achieve set targets on Equity, Non-Equity and other value added products, organize lead generation activities, liaison with the bank team and drive numbers through them and more”. But, he is ready to take them on because he feels his confidence has been boosted with the training and industry exposure he received at JKBS.

Gaurav mentions the contribution of the Training and Placement department at his institute, which in many ways prepared him for the crucial phase of his life. He admits that it was their efforts that helped him bag the job. “I feel we are also lucky to have so many renowned faculty members who have industry experience”, he reflects. “They helped us understand the practical implications of management concepts, which was quite helpful. Our faculty members were also quite friendly and helpful all throughout”. Learning how to handle several tasks under intense pressure, keeping up with deadlines, interacting with people from different fields, and working in teams are some of the crucial take homes from his academic stint at the institute. Gaurav also has memories that will last him a lifetime: “It’s only natural that I feel really nostalgic and emotional leaving the institute. I have shared such special moments here and I would ask my juniors to live theirs to the fullest and come out with a positive attitude”. These final, reflective words are surely shared by many who have attended the renowned B school. And, for Gaurav, this time was critical in developing the skills needed to be a leader in the business world.
