Well, we all are enjoying our lockdown period while few might have got bored. But as for CAT 2020 or any other management exams aspirant, this might be the best time to invest in studying, working on their hobbies or improving one’s profile. Few of them might have already been started with these things. During this period I was thinking about how I can improve my profile over a year or before exams so that this will help me during my college interviews & also get some fair knowledge on which specialization I should choose for my masters.
As I’m a GEM(General Male Engineer) with not great academic scores(More or less in 60%) & a work experience of 1.8yrs with a general profile (UI developer). I had talked with few of my professors & friends who all are already in management schools on this, they suggested me few things by which one can improve them, one can try to get a basic knowledge & of all the specializations like Finance, Marketing, Operations, etc. with these try some certification courses of each if possible. Here are the few certifications courses which I found are useful:
Free Certification Courses:
- Fundamentals of Digital Marketing
- Google Analytics for Beginners
- Microsoft Excel - Excel from Beginner to Advanced (You can get this course free using coupons which are for limited period. Keep looking for the one or for some other excel course with free certification):
- Personal & Family Financial Planning
- Operations Management
- Google Ads
Paid Certification Courses:
- Six Sigma Courses
- SAP

On top of these courses, these 21 days is the perfect time one can improve personally with their skills like working on their existing hobbies or learn new instruments, art, read books, learn a new language or something which you haven’t tried yet being within a house. One can start writing blogs, start his/her own YouTube channel, virtually volunteering any social activities, Online remote internships, work on remote projects, improve your network on online(I personally feel LinkedIn is the best source)
The ultimate goal of this quarantine period is to use this opportunity to improve your profile & gain knowledge which will be helpful for us in the future.
