“Whom do you idolize if there is no one around to take inspiration from”, says Shivkant Dangi, a village boy from Sagar district in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh who cracked IIM Indore this year with his might and will. From not knowing what MBA and B-school is, to getting into one of the top b-schools in the country, Shivkant’s journey indeed is an inspiring one. But, how did he reach here and what are some of the struggles he had to go through? Shivkant bares his heart out in this candid conversation with Purnangshu Paul, talking about his early days in the village to becoming an idol for many aspiring minds now.
Shivkant, like many other kids in the real ‘Bharat’, never got the chance to explore other avenues. Lack of infrastructure and facilities within the village made it difficult for him to chase lofty dreams. But, he worked hard and made a way for himself. From not knowing how to read and write in English to fluently speaking and cracking CAT, this has indeed been an inspiring journey for Shivkant.
