The entrance test for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) for the batch 2022-2024 was held on December 05, 2021. The test was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). There were no changes in the pattern from last year. The paper had 4 sections and a total of 110 questions. The number of questions in each section and the marking scheme also remained the same as IIFT-January-2021. As per reports, 30,000 candidates have appeared for the entrance examination this year. In this article, we will deep-dive into the detailed analysis of the IIFT 2022 by Career Launcher (CL) and IMS along with the predicted cut-offs. 

IIFT 2022 Analysis As Per Test-Takers

  1. The General Knowledge questions were difficult.
  2. The Data Interpretation section was lengthy.
  3. The Quantitative Section was moderate - difficult and some of them required a lot of time to solve.

IMS has not released the exact cut-offs for Female candidates in each category. They have mentioned, "the cut-off for female students to be lower by around 5-7 marks in each category than corresponding cut-offs for male students". We have put the range in this table based on the same.

IIFT 2022 Analysis And Predicted Cut-offs: Section-wise

Quantitative Ability

As per the experts at IMS, this was the toughest section in IIFT 2022 with lengthy and time-consuming questions. According to the experts at Career Launcher (CL), the performance in this section depended on how much time the candidate decided to spend on this section. Out of 25 questions in the section, 8 were on Arithmetic, followed by 7 on Arithmetic, 6 on Geometry and 3 on Algebra.

According to Career Launcher, ideally, 35 minutes should have been spent in this section with 5 minutes extra either in this section or VARC.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

According to the experts at IMS and Career Launcher, the Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension section was of Moderate Level of Difficulty this year. According to IMS, the Reading Comprehension part was difficult, but, since the majority of the questions in Verbal Ability (Vocabulary and Grammar) were Easy, the section as a whole became easy to deal with. The 35 questions in this section comprised 16 questions on RCs and the remaining 19 questions from the various topics of Verbal Ability. The VARC section this year was easier as compared to the IIFT 2021 exam, as per IMS.

According to Career Launcher's experts, around 12-13 questions could have been solved easily without much difficulty. Ideally, 35 minutes should have been spent in this section with 5 minutes extra being spent either in this section or the QA section.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

According to experts at Career Launcher, this section was Easy. Out of 16 DI questions, 11-13 were doable. Out of 15 LR questions, 10 were doable in the time frame. According to  IMS, the DILR section was Medium to Difficult, with the questions on DI being easier than that on LR. The Data Interpretation sets appeared more difficult than they actually were. All the DI sets had multiple graphs. The questions were based on observation as well as calculations. One set was fairly calculation intensive. However, the other sets involved relatively simple calculations. Out of the 30 questions in the section, 16 questions were on Data Interpretation (Four sets with four questions each) and 14 questions were on Logical Reasoning.

General Awareness

As per Career Launcher, the General Awareness section in IIFT 2022 was as per usual in terms of the level of difficulty. According to experts at IMS, The General Awareness section this year was Easy and less difficult than last year. There were 5 static GK questions and 15 Current Affairs questions.
