Staying true to its fame of being the best among the new IIMs, IIM Ranchi completed its final placements for the 2013-15 batch (both PGDM and PGDHRM) with a whopping average salary of 13.4 lpa for PGDM and 12.6 lpa for PGDHRM. 3 international offers were made with the highest international package standing at 55 lpa and as many as 14 lateral offers were made. A total of 150 students participated from the PGDM batch and 42 students from the PGDHRM batch. The outgoing PGDM batch had the highest number of students among all the new IIMs, a fact that makes these salary figures look even more incredible. 106 companies visited the campus for PGDM and 30 companies did for PGDHRM offering much coveted profiles to the students.
IIM Ranchi lived up to the image of IIMs being known for General Management by offering General Management roles to 24% of the PGDM students. Leadership roles were offered by industry majors like Daimler India, RPG Group, Idea Cellular and DS Group.
The largest chunk of students went for Consulting & Analytics, in which 25% of the students were placed. Roles ranging from Senior Consultant to Business Development were offered by major players like Deloitte US, Samsung, Cognizant Business Consulting to name a few.
Sales & Marketing continued to be one of the most preferred functional areas with 15% of the students bagging roles in this domain. Most of the international offers made were also in this domain. Brands from various sectors like FMCG, Telecom, Pharma & Healthcare, Automotive, Mass media, Ecommerce, etc. recruited in bulk from the institute. The profiles offered included Digital Marketing, Media Marketing, e-Commerce, International marketing and the like. The year saw first-time recruiters such as Hewlett-Packard, Future Group and Bajaj Corp while enhancing the relationship with regular recruiters like Becton Dickinson, RPG Group, Maruti Suzuki, Hero Motocorp and HT Media.
IIM Ranchi has been able to maintain its dominant position in Finance domain, with the likes of prominent Investment Banks and Asset Management Companies offering roles to the students. The much coveted AVP position in Corporate Finance was offered for the first time on our campus. One of the biggest financial services firm extended their leadership role to our students with rotation across businesses such as Private equity, Investment Banking, Institutional equity, Asset Management and Corporate Planning. Nearly 16% of the students got placed in the finance sector with brands such as JP Morgan Chase, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, SBI, etc.
Operations and Supply Chain domain received the highest domestic package offered this year at IIM Ranchi (27 lpa). A Mumbai based firm recruited from IIM Ranchi for the role of Head – FTL & LTL. Tata Steel continued to be a coveted recruiter, extending the maximum number of offers while firms including but not limited to Future Supply Chain offered niche profiles like Operations Consulting.
Having the distinction of being the only IIM to offer a dedicated HR course, IIM Ranchi performed exceptionally well in the HR placements as well. Top roles such as Industrial Relations, Talent Acquisition, HR Analytics, Corporate HR and HR Operations were offered. The biggies recruiting the HR students were L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Samsung Research India, BPCL, Sun Pharmaceuticals, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel to name a few.
