IIM Rohtak Celebrated 14th Foundation Day
Rohtak, 16th November 2022: Indian Institute of Management Rohtak celebrated their 14th Foundation Day on November 16, 2022 with a series of events. The institute honored distinguished contributions of its faculty members as well students who have contributed eminently and made their mark in their chosen fields of profession. The Institute recognized research highlights and programme highlights of last year.
Shri Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Indian Film director, Shri Sanjeev Kaushal, Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana and Dr. Pushp Kumar Joshi, Chairman, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd graced the occasion with their presence.
The flagship programme of PGP is internationally accredited by AMBA. As far as batch profile of students is concern, 70% female representation of students from last three years. The batch is represented in 30 different states and union territories. Students have enrolled 40% from commerce & management studies, 30% from engineering studies and rest from science, humanity and other disciplines. IIM Rohtak is the First IIM to introduce 2 year post graduate diploma in Sports Management Programme. Also, this year honorable Prime Minister mentioned about this programme is his speech.
The institute runs about 25 different short duration management development programmes (MDP) for senior government officials, private enterprises like leadership development, project management, digital marketing etc. The Institute is always featured among the Top IIM’s in per capita research inputs. In the year 2022 we have 88 publications from faculty members which as lead by the director, faculty and doctoral students.. IIM Rohtak is also conducted consultancy projects in research. These projects helped government of Haryana, central government to take inputs for policy measures for country. We also conducted research projects for ministry of tourism and ministry of consumer affairs.
During the COVID period, IIM Rohtak conducted oxygen audits in entire states of Haryana. This has helped the government to optimized the use of oxygen, logistic planning and save multiple lives. In terms of placements, the institute have gained increase rate of recruitment by 16% from last year.
According to Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Director, “Movies are one of the most powerful medium for society to gather information and learn new lessons. In Indian context, it is with deep regret that we have not done great job through the power of our movies. Our Film Industry should uplift the self-esteem of our youth so that they became confident about themselves. One should start thinking about alternative perspectives, enhance your though process, always go for both the perspectives of each situations.”
In his address Shri Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Indian Film Director said “In today’s time, this entire world is going through crises and that crises is trust. We have become trust deficient. Every moment of our life has become a speculation. We are marketing ourselves on social platforms. We should invest time in our thoughts, emotions to make our decisions. To inspire the future generations we should not talk about gaps, weaknesses etc. We should focus on growth and trust to win the race. Today’s World, Trust value is missing in individual behaviors.
In India, with so such diversification of our cultures, we all are living with each other because we know somewhere we are for each other. In the world, people trust Indians. They have this thought that Indians have loyalty and faith. Due to this reason most of CEO’s Directors in many MNC’s are Indians.
Dr. Joshi in his talk mentioned about the importance of emotional intelligence. He stated that even the well qualified people are unable to manage in social circle. Though the science of emotional intelligence is still evolving and yet to find its right place and acceptance, it plays a very important role in the corporate environment. Self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy and social skills are the key elements to emotional intelligence that one should adopt to.
Continuing with the discussion on knowledge and wisdom, Shri Sanjeev Kaushal shared that regardless of where we are, we need to indulge in ethical issues. While mentioning the importance of change and self-actualization as a country, he stated that we have to progress away from the colonial and age old mindset and be free and take control of our own developments and innovations.
IIM Rohtak has witnessed historic developments in recent years. The institute has been placed as the most progressive and breakthrough management institutions in the country. IIM Rohtak is ranked 8th among public management institutions in India for the second time in a row as per Outlook India Ranking 2022. It is amongst the country’s top management institutes and the only IIM in the Delhi-NCR region. The institute aims to build tomorrow’s leaders by organizing various events to polish students’ skills and keep them updated about the industry’s current trends, hence bridging the gap between industry and academia.
