Located in the state of Haryana, India, Indian Insitute of Management Rohtak was established in 2009 on the 16th of November by the Government of India as one of the six new IIMs announced under the 11th Five Year Plan, thus making it the first IIM in North India and the only IIM in the National Capital Region. The institute is presently functioning from its permanent sprawling 200 acre residential campus located in Management City, Sunaria, with Professor Dheeraj Sharma, a full professor on leave from IIM Ahmedabad, as its director.
In the ten years of its existence, IIM Rohtak has established itself as one of the only four IIMs in the country that are CFA affiliated. The institute has received the IDA Education Best B School Award in Research and Innovation by India Didactics Association in the year 2018 and is ranked among top 16 public B Schools in India for Management Education and 8th amongst all IIMs.
On the 16th of November 2019, IIM Rohtak celebrates its 11th Foundation Day. Since 2009, the institute has achieved immense growth and established itself as an Institute of National Importance. Prof. Dheeraj Sharma welcomed the esteemed guests. He, while reflecting on the milestones achieved by IIM Rohtak since its inception said, “

Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe , Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. In his keynote address, Mr Sahasrabuddhe congratulated IIM Rohtak for establishing itself as a top B-school in such a short period and talked about the importance of science of Institution Building. He said,
“Institution Building as science needs research and documentation and B-schools can play a significant role in this field”. He further added “
As a society, we are facing crisis of ownership, authenticity, and purpose”. He highlighted the dearth of leadership and suggested that B-schools can train students in leadership, not only from a corporate viewpoint but also for other fields in life. Students of IIM Rohtak organised a classical music night to celebrate the Foundation Day programme with renowned artists like Lavanya Sundararamana, Eklavya, Lalit etc. The programme began with a vibrant performance by the newly inducted IPM students. All the participants showcased their talents in the areas of their cultural interests through mesmerising performances.
Staying true to its motto, “Management Through Knowledge and Values”, the institute operates with the vision to be a global leader in the creation and dissemination of management knowledge, and a global learning centre, in due course of time. The primary mission of IIM Rohtak is to develop leaders with a sense of excellence, strong and social commitment, and a passion for value systems. Yet, the broader institutional mission of IIM Rohtak is to create knowledge through research and to disseminate knowledge through quality publications, management education involving classroom delivery through hours of highly enriching and interactive lectures and case-study driven sessions centred on peer learning, of the various management domains instructed by some of the most excellent professors in the country, and through problem-solving support given to industry. The institute boasts of world class infrastructure, equipped with a Knowledge Resources Centre, with unlimited internet connectivity enabled by a fibre optic backbone network which is controlled by the IT Resources Centre. Since its inception, the institute has delivered 200+ publications and has been a part of 100+ conferences thus progressing towards its goal with hawk’s eye. It is the fifth IIM to get a membership of AACSB, the most coveted international accreditation agency.
Besides its flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management, the institute also offers Fellowship and Executive programs in various areas of management like Finance, Marketing, Operations, Sports Management, etc. to name a few. This year, IIM Rohtak has introduced a Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) which is a comprehensive management program that has a combined course of management studies from under-graduate (UG) to postgraduate (PG).The institute has taken many entrepreneurial and social initiatives since its inception. The Student Tailored and Organized Retail Enterprise (STORE) of IIM Rohtak is a unique initiative by the students. It started with an aim to become a dedicated one-stop solution to IIM Rohtak’s convenience and merchandising needs. Every Child in School (ECIS) is a social initiative by a strong team of students that teach underprivileged students, conducts donation drives for them and even organize various activities for them. Of the numerous events concerning the field of management that take place on a perennial basis in the institute, Managements Summits hold a key importance. Management Summit is a congregation of industry leaders for sharing their thoughts, ideas, and experiences with the aspiring business graduates and community. The distinguished industry leaders discuss various businesses situations and the frameworks and processes that can be leveraged to drive growth while addressing and re-inventing, strategies and practices in pursuit of sustainable value creation for the society. The institute has the best guest lectures to offer and was the fastest growing IIM under CAP.
The institute strives to enrich the experience of its students by focusing on their holistic development. In addition to this, the institute has done a great job of unifying the eclectic mix of interests and cultures on campus through the numerous student-governed clubs and committees that largely work both during the day and at night. There also exist a melange of recreation facilitators that primarily focus on a student’s all-round development. These structural integrations are a few enablers of IIM Rohtak being one of the most prestigious institutions that the country has ever produced.
