IIM Rohtak has collaborated with
Ulster University, UK to offer a degree in Sports Management. Participants of Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Management at IIM Rohtak will be eligible to obtain a Masters in Sports Management from Ulster University, UK. Ulster University will consider all course-work undertaken at IIM Rohtak towards the award of the Masters' degree. Interested student will have an option to enrol and undertake an online internship with Ulster University faculty. These activities are in addition to all subject courses offered in IIM Rohtak, which may take an additional duration of 6 months.
Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Director, IIM Rohtak said, "Sports industry is important and fast-growing. Increasing need to professionalize the sports industry creates the need for sports management professionals. Sport management professionals are expected to deal with various business aspects of sports and recreation. Sport Management program at IIM Rohtak is expected to produce professionals who have the competence in various domains such as sports marketing, sports law, financials of sports, event management, sports infrastructure management, sponsorship, sports organizations, among others."
IIM Rohtak is the only IIM to have a Post Graduate Programme for Sports Management. Currently entering its third year, the program is specifically designed for athletes, ex-players, current practitioners, and working executives of any function who plan to develop their future career in sports management. Participants of the program are offered an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum that is at par with the best in the world that will ensure professional development, networking, and skills across various domains of the sports industry. As an extra step, IIM Rohtak also has the provision of scholarships for programme applicants who have represented India at Asian/Commonwealth/Olympic events.
Apart from collaboration with Ulster University, Institute has also collaborated with several eminent faculty specialized in sports management domain from various international universities like the University of San Francisco, Leeds Becket University (UK), Zurich University (Switzerland), University do Porto (Portugal), British Columbia Institute (Canada), University of New Haven (US), and University of Helsinki (Finland) among others. Distinguished stalwarts from sports industry like Ayaz Memon, Neeraj Kumar, Jeev Milkha Singh, Rishi Narain, and Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi are providing their expert guidance as academic advisors to the programme", he further added.
Registrations to the third batch of 2 year Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Management (EPGDSM) are open till 31st July 2020 followed by the selection process including Sports Assessment Aptitude Test and Personal Interview. Candidate interested in applying for this programme must hold a bachelor's degree (in any discipline) and must be able to demonstrate an interest in sports. Work experience in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
