It’s been 3 weeks and I still cannot get enough of what is popularly known as the ‘’Campus in Clouds’’. Time really flies out here and I say this at a moment when there is such a rigor that doesn’t allow time to relax and unwind in one of the most beautiful campuses. No wonder how fast it will fly when there will be moments of respite from the hectic schedule of MBA.

The moment I stepped into the institute, the things have been considerably deviant from expectations. The journey in IIM Shillong started with entering into the premises and basking in all the serenity so as to prepare myself for the upcoming challenges. Having seen the pictures of campus hundreds of time on social media and web, the curiosity didn’t die and I realized that pictures tell half of the story.

Glimpses of what a student-driven campus is could be found almost at every phase and it makes one swell with pride to see the students plunge into numerous activities (This is what real management is). Meeting and interacting with new people from diverse academic backgrounds was one life-time experience and IIM Shillong provides a platform where people from all over the country come to form a closely knit batch (unity in diversity). We all have some preconceived notions on what life at IIM is like and we tend to focus only on the fun part. Same was the case for Shillong campus and due to its scenic beauty the focus remained on exploring the campus, nearby locations and knowing your batch-mates. We all were looking forward to meet batch-mates on first day itself. But all our hopes died after having gone through the weekly schedule.

Gradually with the assignment of group tasks and frequently changing study groups with each task led to knowing the batch in a better way which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. With the commencement of remedial classes, everybody was facing a tough time to cope-up with the rigorous schedule. There were instances when you stop feeling being functional and find out ways to function with sleeping less. Amidst the assignments, group tasks and classes , came the fresher’s eve, where finally all the exhaustion and frustration transformed into fun and frolic. It is these small things happening in between the feverish curriculum where you could find the joys of your life!
