It was the 21st of June 2017, when I first landed at IIM Shillong with a multitude of emotions. As I entered the gate, I didn’t have the slightest clue, with reference to what all things were awaiting me for the next two precious years of my life. And today when I am sitting at my desk, writing this document and a progression of occasions come moving through my mind, I cannot tell the change I have experienced as a person between this length. Certainly, the past one year has been a roller coaster ride for many of us here at IIM Shillong, however for me, it has been an affair of a lifetime, which I am sure I would definitely miss in the later stages of my life. I consider myself very fortunate, that I took the decision to write CAT and pursue an MBA and that too from an IIM, otherwise, I would have never seen such an astonishing adventure which is still left to toss a considerable measure of amazement before me.

Pursuing an MBA from IIM Shillong is an altogether different feeling. It’s like a different ball game as compared to studying at other IIMs. I might want to depict a portion of the encounters which I can consider now, which I am certain would not do equity to the experience I'll not mention here. In any case, as the line says that the life isn't reasonable for everyone.

So, the experiences go as follows. Imagine a feeling, while you are attending a lecture when suddenly clouds come to your campus from nowhere, leaving each one of us bewildered. A sense of thankfulness for the commerce guys, who prepare you for the upcoming exam at the last moment. A sentiment of bliss, while seeing your batchmates getting SIPs (Summer Internships) in the choice of their brands or a drop of tear of happiness in your friend’s eyes when he/she tells you about your selection in a firm. What's more, there are such huge numbers of different occasions which I can't think of right now.

The structures of IIM Shillong in green and cream reverberates with its theme to spread awareness about the benefits of Sustainability. The kind of view, you get to see from your room on a regular basis during the sunrise and sunset, is awe-inspiring and needs a click to be captured not only in the gallery but our hearts. The temporary campus of our college which boasts of being one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, previously a palace, has scores of picturesque spots to enjoy the sunset.

After monsoons, when the weather becomes chilly, the campus gets covered with pink coloured cherry blossoms all over the place, and no participant in the campus misses the opportunity to click some pleasing pictures.

One of the main reasons IIM Shillong has made a place in the hearts of all its stakeholders is that late Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was a regular guest faculty here and also took his last breath while delivering a speech here. His voice still spins around the passageways of the campus and reminds us how incredible his identity was.

Throughout the year, we as participants are overwhelmed to witness various dignitaries and eminent personalities in the form of Podium sessions, which are a series of interactive sessions organized by the college to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

We, as participants of IIM Shillong, consider ourselves very fortunate enough that we got an opportunity to roam within the walls of such a lovely campus, which we consider our home away from home, where friends are family and because we are a bunch of 360 odd participants (both batches included), our bonds become tighter and stronger with each passing day. We are always surrounded by our peers, right from waking each other for the class or having group project meetings, or meetings for the clubs or committees or groups just gathered to have some random quarrels for gossip.

No matter how many ups and downs, we face as participants of this institute, I am sure that we would surely cherish these moments after ours MBA. This institute and its memories would surely leave a mark which we’ll remember for a long time.

Aditya Birla Group   I would like to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. ABFRL is India’s No 1. Fashion Lifestyle entity. It comprises of top brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, Pantaloons, etc. under its belt.
