IIM Shillong - Life At The Campus In Clouds

It's been almost three weeks that I have been to this campus, I am already in love with this campus. Staying true to the name CampuSInClouds, here right in the middle of the class, fog fills up the class. The professor has to wait for some time to clear out the fog. This is one of the rarest scenes that I have ever witnessed. The campus has that vintage kind of feel.

Coming from South India, the entire North East climate has been more than pleasant. Because of the rigorous regime, that everyone in the first year are put through, we rarely sleep. We witness sunrise around 4 in the morning, staying awake completing the assignments. Our batch consisting of 180 people coming from different backgrounds, localities and experiences create a diverse environment. IIM Shillong provides a high degree of peer-to-peer learning opportunity simply because of the students who comprise a fairly heterogeneous mix in terms of origin, experience, culture and thoughts. They bring value to the table.

Everyone here lives so nearby, everyone stumbles upon everyone early in the morning. Developing kinship among the batch has been the main motto. Ensuring no one misses the classes, waking the wingmates is given the utmost importance. The interaction between seniors and incoming batch is high. This campus ensures some closely knit relationship with the seniors. The introductory sessions by the seniors to get us acquainted with the B School environment has put us through some rough times. The important takeaway from these sessions is for the benefit of the incoming batch. Introducing certain rules, making us adhering to the tight deadlines, innumerous PPT presentations, committee and clubs interactions, great icebreakers made us ready for the next phase of our life.

As a student-driven campus, the students here made sure that the sessions that are conducted are of full us to us. They have provided us with some guidance on how to set goals for these two years. The buddy system in here ensures that consistent interaction with them, helping each other out in college affairs. Here at IIM Shillong, the foundation course on sustainability introduces us to the new concepts of these new sustainable business aspects. We have been thought of converting the sustainability practices to profit making businesses. The trek after the course took us to the most scenic places of all time, Mawphlang Sacred Forest. The North East culture and less known beauty of this side of the country intrigue everyone.

A 44.3 Billion Dollar Corporation, spanning across 42 nations, Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest conglomerates in the world. Aditya Birla Group, being the third largest conglomerate in India includes a lot of sectors under its umbrella. ABGLP is obviously one of  the few corporate groups out there offering a leadership program. Aditya Birla Group Retail is focusing to become the leading industries in FMCG sector and textiles sector. The company is changing the demographics and adapting the fast changing markets of the world, propelling itself to the top of the ladder. I would like to work in this organization where I could learn a lot from the rich heritage that this organization carries.
