21st June 2018, the day my life took the most popular roller coaster ride in Shillong. The roads of IIM Shillong resembled the ups and downs of the roller coaster. As soon as I reached the campus I was allotted the NB-121 hostel room and got to know the first person of my batch, my roommate Piyush. The little I knew about him, more excited I was to know him. Curiosity to more and more people dragged me to explore each and every room of the hostel. I went across the room filled with a sweet musk of deodorant and a table full of essentials that I was going to use for the next two years. I met Sagar and Saurav my batch mates and definitely more than friends from that day. Sagar having an accent of Englishmen was just a regular guy from Bangalore (Don’t know why people from Bangalore have such a different accent). Anyway, it really didn’t matter as far as people are sweet and kind. Now coming to Saurav, a short man with a permanent and mischievous smile on his face. Every time you see him it feels like something really fishy is cooking up in that tiny compartment under the hairs. But he is one of the most genuine people I met in the entire campus till date.
As few days passed, the bonding between Saurav and me started becoming stronger. But the group needed to be expanded and which led to the search for few more annoying idiots to join the group. On the third day on the campus, I met Abhishek. His face definitely has that enigma to attract people on the first sight as that rolling eyelashes and the French beard gave him that extra points. As soon as he opened his mouth, the Delhi accent came flowing through his mouth. I soon realized that a new member is soon going to be inducted in the group. Abhishek being a short person has the ability to force humor in the most serious situations. I don’t know how does he do that but it definitely brings a smile on my face. Now on the next morning while in the hurry to use washroom I came across a gentle, kind and polite person in the campus, Soumyajit Mandal. The Bangali Babu from Kolkata was ready to spare the washroom for me. He insisted me to go first. Soon I realized the family has started growing bigger.
Saving the best for the last, I met Shraddha Meena. The most serious girl that ever existed on the entire universe (at least what I thought for the first time). But more I came to know her, I realized that the seriousness was just to cover the madness stored inside her. She can do the craziest things in the most awkward time which will first make you embarrassed but then make you laugh at that idiot. We started hanging out together and never at any moment let anyone feel that they were away from their home. Soumyajit became the caretaker and the alarm clock of our group. Saurav became the host of the group and we were always making his room a mess. Abhishek took advantage of his fair color and saved two buckets of water on every alternate day. As Shillong has a shortage of water and our college promotes sustainability. So the dots connected. And the journey is still going on.
ABG company
The ABG company I would like to prefer is Ultratech Cement - The Engineers Choice. The reason for choosing this company is that firstly it is such a huge brand and secondly I have a graduation degree from Civil Engineering. The background knowledge gives me an upper hand in taking managerial decisions. A job at Ultratech Cement will not only give me an exposure to the civil engineering aspects but also on sight decision making qualities. I can make use om my knowledge from graduation and the learning from IIM Shillong to take the company as well as myself to greater heights.
