It was Friday, 18th May, 2018. A day which I will never forget for my life. It was the day I got my offer letter for IIM Shillong. I was elated at first but soon anxiety started creeping in as I was apprehensive about how I will settle at a new place with new people, away from my comfort zone. With these mixed feelings, I entered the gates of IIM SHILLONG on the 21st of June. But within hours all my anxiety, all my fears were washed away. I found my people who became my family.
Nikhil, Swarnima, Nishita, Vaibhav- my ‘family’ away from family on the campus.
Nikhil was the first person on the campus I connected with from the word go. He is a true Bangalorean and cannot hear any word against the city and will tell you about it even when you don’t want to know. He is the so-called chef of our group who does everything except cooking. He has the weirdest sense of humour and gets serious when everyone is in a jovial mood. Stupid but entertaining, irritating but worth it.Swarnima is the social butterfly of our batch and knows anyone and everyone. She’s that friend who gives the world’s best advice and makes sure you implement it. A trained dancer and an equally bad singer. She can talk for hours without stopping to breathe. She will make sure you are not homesick or low for even a second.
Vaibhav is the jester of our group who is skinny as a matchstick. A typical northie with a big heart. He is one of those guys in whose room you can barge in at any hour of the day/night. Fifteen minutes with him will make you forget all your day’s stress and make you rejuvenated to take on new stress because he makes sure you get it.
Nishita, the happy go lucky person of our group, but BEWARE you can make her cry only with a sentence. A F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan who makes sure she watches at least two episodes before sleeping, if she sleeps at all. She makes sure that the entire batch doesn’t miss the breakfast. She is the only one with whom I can share anything and everything under the sun and can be my crazy self.
This is not the complete list but few of the special ones. I am sure this is just the beginning of a rollercoaster ride and the coming two years have a lot more in store for me.
Which ABG company would I like to work for?
I have a formal work experience in the banking industry which I would like to utilise by working for Aditya Birla Payments Bank. As we are moving towards a cashless economy, payments bank are the future of banking in India. I would like to use my expertise in the industry and with the value addition from IIM SHILLONG I can become a highly valued professional and contribute towards its growth and in turn contribute towards our economy.
