Indian Institute of Management, Shillong has continued its growth trajectory with the summer internship season for the academic year 2015-2016.

A total of 61 companies made 174 offers across various domains this year with the highest stipend of INR 1,60,000 offered in Sales & Marketing. The average total stipend witnessed a significant jump of 25% from the previous year. Despite the increased batch size, the institute continues to impress recruiters with the academic and cultural diversity, culminating into a successful placement season for the year. 

Prominent recruiters like Mahindra GMC, Aditya Birla Group, Nomura, HSBC, Cognizant Business Consulting, GSK Pharmaceuticals, Sapient Global Markets, TATA Steel, TATA Motors, ICICI Bank, IBM, Wipro, Hero MotoCorp, Tolaram Group, FCB Ulka, RBL Bank among others continued to show faith and recruit from IIM Shillong. Companies like Google, L’oreal, Dabur, OlaCabs, Amazon, Snapdeal, Fidelity Investments, Bajaj Allianz, and Teach for India among others were the prominent first time recruiters. 

Ratnakar Bank Ltd. and TATA Steel emerged as largest recruiters with 9 and 8 offers respectively. Sales & Marketing emerged as the most sought after domain with 30% of the total offers being made in this domain, including one international offer by the Tolaram Group. Further, 22% of the batch was offered profiles in Finance. The year also witnessed a 100% increase in the number of Manufacturing/Retail and FMCG companies visiting the campus. 

Prof. Sharad Nath Bhattacharya, Chairperson- Student Affairs, Public Relations and Placement, accredits improved numbers with existing companies and addition of a large number of new recruiters to the performance and credibility of IIM Shillong graduates in the industry.
