IIM Shillong - In The Scotland Of East

Of all the amazing places to visit in India, the northeast is perhaps the most alluring.  Imagine yourself waking up in the morning amidst the abode of clouds, pleasing you with a scenic beauty which no camera could capture. When burdened with stress, an open window is all you need.  Also known as “The Scotland of East,” it is an ideal place to unwind amidst natural beauty and serenity. The journey from a student to a manager is full of challenges which eventually bring the best out of you. There are days when you want to run away, breaking all the shackles, into the wild beauty of this place, exploring the rich heritage this place has to offer, giving a new ray of hope, like a morning with the sun rising in the clouds, decorating the sky with its glory. This campus has a strong cultural vibe, a regal feeling, which empowers you to experience a different world altogether in this part of the country.

Anxious while starting this phase of my life, IIM Shillong took me by surprise, with its hospitality and people, which made it feel like home, comforting my journey towards a brighter future. This campus is a self-sustainable campus which has everything to offer which one needs to learn how to live. Every day, the journey from hostel rooms to the classroom is nothing less than a beautiful trek, preparing you to move forward fighting any challenge which comes your way. MBA is a robust program wherein you must grasp a lot, in a small span of time, developing yourself holistically.

This journey seems much easier when you have mother earth gratifying you, fostering you like her child. Coming from Delhi, this place appears fresh, a soothing breeze kissing your body, taking you to a whole new home away from all the problems in this world. People struggle their entire life to get that peace, nirvana, which this campus offers every morning with birds chirping in your balcony, waking you up like an alarm clock, giving a perfect start to your day. Having traveled to almost every part of this country, I can conclude that some things are uniquely associated with certain places, serenity being one for IIM Shillong. Every B-School in this country is capable enough to groom future managers but not every B-School in this country can provide an excellent learning experience amidst such serene beauty.

The company I wish to work for is Aditya Birla Retail Limited. Having a background in retail, it will be an excellent opportunity for me to learn the minute nitty-gritty of retail and develop myself in this domain. I want to explore different possibilities in retail with changing time and would love to give my all in whatever work I do for this company. Also, ABRL has a constant focus on “Quality 1st” and is proudly the first ever Indian food and grocery retailer to receive the FSMS certification. I want to take the legacy of the Aditya Birla Group forward and contribute to this business to the best of my abilities.
