Flash of the cab’s headlight read over the billboard IIM Shillong & I was there excited to start all over again what I call the “second inning” of my learning journey. Shillong as rightly called “The Abode in Clouds” housed this eminent institution called “Campus in Clouds” offering participants an exclusive secluded layout for focused learning amidst nature.

The striking feature of the journey was hospitality shown by the institution upon arrival, and the remarkable part was, it was all managed by the participants of PGP 2017 thereby holding the slogan of “student-driven campus” head high. It was a definitive example of how management is, i.e. not through text book learning but through actual execution. The induction program, as a mark of passing on the legacy baton of the eminent institution to the new batch by familiarizing us with the culture, values & responsibilities was another stupendous experience. The two mantras of program were unity & professionalism which profuse a blend of value & responsibility. The rigorous program instilled in me enthusiasm & confidence so that I can go out & say what’s next?

In the first few days of B-school life, I come to know that the diversity of batch gives me ample of opportunity to learn from the experience of others, it gives me exposure to an ocean of perspectives & helps in nurturing the thought process. Dynamism led by diversity is the new monotony, where teaching is not imparted but learning is imbibed. Another astonishing feature is that professors here are facilitators & not just teachers which gives you a sense of responsibility that you are the master of your own fate. It brings me to the conclusion that the beginning has been really exciting with promising prospects for remaining part of the two years course.

Aditya Birla Group

44-billion-dollar multinational conglomerate spanning across 35 nations with a diverse workforce of 120000 people belonging to vivid nationalities demarcates the aura of Aditya Birla Group. More than 150 years old but still the scion of change reflects the deep roots of values & brawny business manifestation. Although the group operates more than 40 companies under its banner and hold the global leadership position in a few of the segments, I am particularly fascinated by metal division of it, Hindalco Industries Limited. As we know Hindalco is the world’s largest aluminium rolling company & one of the biggest producer of primary aluminium in Asia, a lot of efforts went into making the gigantic empire what it is at present. Leading the market with quality product differentiation to extension into downstream value-added products enriched the company’s portfolio. The company has been pioneering in integrating technology in the establishment of new age smelters, operating on state of art technology. All this reflects companies “market grower” philosophy with constant innovation & improvisation aimed at delivering values to its stakeholder. I have past experience of working with market leaders & I know how difficult it is to sustain the position of leadership because you have to lead by setting examples & chasing your own benchmark which defines the industry. So, I am excited to work with a company of such challenging stature where I got to explore while learning & hopefully raising the bar to another level.
