It’s a very delightful feeling to be a part of one of the most unique IIM campus located in the city of Shillong, also called as "Scotland of the East" and we call our campus “The Campus in Clouds”. How often does this happen that you have to look down to have a glance at the clouds, if you’re in IIM Shillong you have to get used to it before you lose sense of directions. You will witness stunning combinations of cloud formations with a bright clear blue sky in the background which looks more like a painting rather than a reality. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful campuses and is a heaven for nature lovers. The campus was once a palace for the king of Mayurbhanj dynasty and one can still find the footprints of the dynasty. Believe me, it is really hard to not to get distracted by the scenic beauty of the place but at the same time this peaceful place will encourage you to work hard not only in academics but also enjoy sports, cultural activities etc. It sometimes rains all day long along with sunshine. The sun rises as early as 4am in the morning and you have to resist yourself from going out for a morning walk instead of trying to complete a huge pile of assignments. But, as the sun goes down in the evening, the night turns out to be even more interesting. The funky lights in various rooms of the hostel start to glow and a consistent sound of music echoing in the campus will make you forget all your worries. Shillong goes to deep sleep by 10pm but IIM Shillong never sleeps. You will find all kind of activities being done in the night time, from playing Table Tennis, Volleyball, Football, Basketball to students completing assignments, eating noodles and rolls when the hunger kicks in at 2am. Despite being in the middle of nature, the campus is equipped with some of the most advanced technologies. Campus Wi-Fi works at a lightning speed even in the corner most part of the campus and classrooms are furnished with smart board technology. The campus is in the vicinity of sacred forests, lakes, rivers, hills and falls. Trekking through these hills is an experience that one will never forget all his/her life. We came so close to the nature that feels nothing less than walking into the clouds. And hence “The Campus in Clouds”…

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

I would like to be a part of the Idea Cellular, a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group. India being a major market for cellular communication in the world has enough potential and scope for growth. Despite having the 2nd most mobile users in the world, India is lagging behind in terms of quality of service being provided to the users. We are counted among the countries with slowest internet speed which is not a very good indicator of telecom health. We need a transformation in this sector and it is full of opportunities. It will be a very good platform for me to showcase my managerial knowledge and skills and also to work towards the betterment of the organization and the country as a whole.
