What makes IIM Trichy Unique?
“Knowledge is Endless” is the motto that governs IIM Trichy. True to it, the institute has tried to instil strong values about the importance of knowledge in us. We have all heard the saying that goes Knowledge is power. In IIM Trichy we get to experience that power through our learnings. I strongly believe that more than the age or brand value of an institution, it is the pedagogy and the rigorous schedule that puts it on a map. Therefore, I can proudly say that IIM Trichy is one of the best to be to experience growth both in a professional as well as personal front. Although it has been only a few days since we have been here its hard not to admit that our experience has been truly transformative.
Apart from Academics, IIM Trichy also has a variety of extra-curricular activities we excel in. Students have won laurels in national level competitions such as Global Supply Chain Management Initiative 2017 (USA), CFA institute research challenge, Deloitte Maverick etc. We also actively take part in Inter IIM cultural and sports meet (Dhruva & Sangram), only to come out with flying colours. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. To strike a balance between work and leisure, we have our cultural committee planning great events for us such as the Sunburn festival that took place last year. Another mandatory part of our PGP is Make a Difference project which helps instil in student their social responsibility.
While it is crucial for a student to specialise in his field of interest, I think they should be given the option to specialise in their particular niche interests in each field spread across all domains. This is where IIMT stands out by giving us an option to become a jack of all trades and master of some. I also take pride in mentioning that our PGPM is the first IIM program to be accepted into the CFA university recognition program. Such is the commitment demonstrated by IIMT. As for the placements, the reports speak for themselves.
One can see the marvel our campus is just by googling about us. But the pictures do not do justice to the brilliance our campus has. We have world class infrastructure that is also self-sustainable with a solar and rainwater harvesting facilities. Given that we have such students every year, our campus is also differently abled friendly with special provisions such as Braille signage.
I should not forget to mention the fact that we are most importantly taught how to strike a balance between all the above mentioned. Volumes and volumes can be written about how incredible IIMT is. But most of all what makes it truly unique is how it is creating men and women of substance who are going to be the leaders of tomorrow.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and Why?
It is of my opinion that Pantaloons has the best understanding of the Indian fashion market and caters to the needs of the customer in the best possible manner. The acquisition from Futures group despite it being in debt was an interesting move. But its what led the company to be called “India’s largest pure-play branded apparel company”. Being a satisfied and brand loyal customer of Pantaloons, I would love to work with the Aditya Birla Group to get a better understanding of their working and also give back to the best of my abilities.
