IIM Trichy is the eleventh IIM and was instituted on January, 2011. Since then it has been showing excellence in academics and has established a name for quality and integrity. Currently, IIM Trichy offers 3 courses PGPM (2 year), PGPBM (1 year from Chennai centre) and FPM (Fellow programme). A faculty to student ratio of 10:1 makes teaching more interactive and wholesome. Most of the faculties reside in the permanent campus. The uniqueness of IIM Trichy lies in the friendliness of all the faculties. This is one of the reasons aiding students to excel in academics and win various b school and corporate competitions in India and abroad as well. Another factor for the academic excellence is the state of the art library. The huge collection of books, journals and databases (both online and offline) is a boon for the aspiring students. It is one of the biggest libraries across all the academic institutes in India.
The modern campus of IIM Trichy ensures that the students never miss their home. The single occupancy AC rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, sports facility make life exciting for the students. In the morning or evening, one can see many students jogging in the streets of the campus covering 175 acres. The Harvard styled classrooms also provide a unique experience in learning. Apart from the regular courses in management, all the students in PGPM have to complete a project called Make A Difference(MAD) whereby the students have identified some social issues in the vicinity and work with NGOs to solve those issues through field visits. This provides a chance for the students to give back to the society.
In IIM Trichy, almost all the courses have special sessions by guest lectures. The various clubs and committees also regularly organize guest lectures. The students get to interact with industry professionals, academicians and famous personalities through these lectures. IIM Trichy also organizes guest lecture sessions in its annual management festival Dhruva and HR conclave. It also organizes a week-long International Week where management experts from all over the world come to take specialization courses for the students. This provides a unique opportunity to get an in-depth understanding of Global Business.
IIM Trichy can be called as a platform where students from all over India mingle and share their cultures. Students get to know cultures across India by celebrating various festivals. During weekends or term breaks, students prefer to visit nearby places like Puducherry, Kodaikanal, Ooty etc. These trips make the 2 year stay at IIM Trichy really fun and memorable.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work in the fashion and retail sector (Pantaloons and Planet Fashion). I am currently pursuing PGPM with major in marketing and data analytics. I think there is a huge scope for use of analytics in retail sector specially in decoding consumer behaviour. I will be very happy to apply my knowledge in these domains to the exciting world of fashion.
