Rural Yellow Times Pvt Ltd is a marketing company which is into rural promotions, international exhibitions and campaigns. During my internship, I was assigned to work upon several small projects. I made my contribution to the planning, organizing and conducting events in order to promote services provided by my company. The other project assigned to me was primary market research and analysis. It also involved marketing, branding, and understanding of BTL sales activation. I was supposed to work upon creating a company database to identify the target groups followed by surveys and questionnaire.
The other project involved working in collaboration with the other marketing and sales companies. Along with the other employees, I had to travel to various mandals in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, as a part of the project. From handling pressure to maintaining the deadlines, my learning was huge. This certainly made my confidence go a few notches up. My biggest takeaway from this internship is that, while working in market research, you must be flexible throughout the process and keep specific client goals in mind in order to ensure a project is completed in a way that adds value for the client. As an intern, I expected to complete a wide variety of tasks without being immediately involved in one specific project.
During this process, I was surprised at the many opportunities I had to offer my opinions and key takeaways I found. I feel as though my greatest accomplishment was the personal growth I attained through this internship. I felt as though I started out with a very basic knowledge of market research and by the end of the summer had a skill set that I will be able to apply to my future endeavours. I was put into a totally new area and learnt a lot over the two months. I had multiple opportunities to interact and connect with marketing heads of various companies. This helped us in getting good clarity about the organization and the type of work and projects it deals in. I learnt a lot from the challenges and adversities. I learnt to thrive, not just survive.
