I interned with ICICI Bank. I got the chance to contribute to one of the most trending groups in Banking i.e. Technology and Digital. This year’s internship was administered really well consisting of remarkable projects. Interns got the details of their respective Projects, Guides, and pre-requisites for the internship well before joining it. This helped us to get the essence of our projects in advance and study all the fundamentals to deliver our best in the coming two months. Internship commenced with one-day Induction programme, wherein we travelled over the years of success of ICICI and plunged into the ocean full of its values. This was followed by the briefing of all departments which gave us a glimpse of Banking Activities, the significance of each department and their interdependence. Within the session, every sip of tea and morsel of meal introduced me to my fellow interns from different B-Schools. The induction finally concluded with a poolside dinner which held the gathering of many Business heads. This was a great opportunity to interact with these stalwarts and take away all the useful insights to make a mark in the coming two months. Within 24 hours of my joining, I already attended two meetings with E-com and FinTech over discussion of the undertakings and timeline of the Project. I already started feeling the sense of involvement. But with all these new things on my plate, it was pretty tough to handle as the thoughts of performing better and giving my best were continuously whirling around me. Gradually, I took hold of the Project and could make autonomous decisions. In case of queries or any hurdle, I straightaway used to rush to my mentor or team who were very supportive and used to address them right away. In my guide, I used to state every week’s milestone at the start and the deliverables over to the end of the week. Now, this not only kept my guide updated but helped me plan the Project over to the duration of these two months. All the interns were reviewed after a month wherein we got feedback over the work done and the deliverables to be delivered by the end of our internship. This helped us in setting our landmark for the next month. Since ICICI is a huge organization, it is always advisable to reach out to as many employees as you can and make the most of this chance. You learn different perspectives of a single problem, which makes your think-tank take more accurate decisions. This has not only helped me to reform my project but also gave me the holistic view of Banking. So even during lunch hours, I always tried to sit beside other interns as well as with my team, learning from their experiences and knowing other aspects of Banking. The two major highlights ICICI were the sense of responsibility and recognition of the work done. You are continuously backed and motivated to ‘lead the new’- a catchphrase for innovative Banking Solutions of ICICI. For me, the internship isn’t just a platform where I could deliver but most importantly, it’s a field to witness learnings and experiences, to mould myself in a better shape.
