My MBA journey in SCMHRD, right from the beginning, has always been filled with curiosity about working closely with a company in the domain I am pursuing my MBA. This is all about grabbing the best internship opportunity as we go along with our academic year. The college never failed to load me with enough resources to make the most of it and work towards achieving my goal. The resources in the form of mentorship by seniors and faculties, various learning platforms and teaching sessions contributed to my successful journey in getting an internship with a well-known company in the FMCG sector. The rigorous developmental plans designed by my mentors while I prepared for my internship, were a great help to me in successfully implementing every learning on the d-day. The internship selections included group discussions or case study discussions and interview rounds. Before appearing for the final day, it was very important to do regular practice interviews and GDs to keep me well versed with the proper instructions of performing well on the d-day. During this time, preparing closely with friends and batchmates, to help out each other assessing each other’s performance has proved to be the icing on the cake for me.
Managing to get an internship offer from one of the best direct selling companies in the FMCG industry, I had an amazing experience to intern with Amway India Enterprise Pvt. Ltd. The whole internship despite being a virtual one, was a tremendous experience as I got the backs of the entire HR team as well as my mentor while I connected with everyone daily. My project demanded me to closely work with the company employees to understand the current policies and practices within the company better so that I can come up with the best of recommendations for the company to implement it in real-time. This has been an insightful journey for me as I stood out nicely in delivering my requirements on time, learning about the business aspects of an organization that one must keep in mind while working as an HR. The internship helped me apply the theoretical concepts that I learned during my classroom lectures, into the live scenarios that had a real business impact. Having worked with an IT firm before my MBA and now getting exposure to the FMCG industry has also helped me define my internship journey as a knowledgeable and successful one. During this unprecedented time of COVID, an internship with Amway taught me how to focus on managing people through good engagement activities, virtual meets and various ways to protect your employees and I value these a lot because these are the critical roles of an HR in a company.
I am forever grateful to Amway for having me with them to work on a business challenge that stands among one of the important challenges in the market. I am also thankful to SCMHRD for connecting me with this internship opportunity and letting me fill my learning-bucket.
Along with this share of my internship story, I would like to spill a cheerful message for the readers, especially those who are preparing themselves for an internship, that there is nothing wrong in doing mistakes as you learn new things or encounter a new challenge, rather learn to embrace it happily and work on tackling strategy and always make this a habit of noting down all your learnings, be it new or out of the mistakes, to call it a future saviour.
