It was a delight to connect with Mr. Arashdeep Singh, HR Lead - International Brands, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., for a brief interview, in which he shared with us his experience of working at Aditya Birla Group (ABG). He joined the organization back in 2014, right after he completed his MBA in Human Resources from MDI, Gurgaon. It was a moment of great joy for him and the induction into the organization was smooth. Since then, his journey at ABG has had four stints - in Group HR, at a manufacturing unit, in retail and in fashion. He is incredibly happy with the variety of assignments, the opportunity to work in different functions and facing different challenges in the process. He is also satisfied with the horizontal and vertical growth that he has seen in the past 4 years, both personal and professional. Aditya Birla Group is a huge organization and Mr. Singh believes that the various businesses under ABG have a distinct culture and quality attached to them. Giving examples from his own experience, he mentioned that while the manufacturing plants are more geared towards quality and achieving perfection, the retail sector, on the other hand, is dynamic and fast-paced. The culture of different businesses merges into one big culture of ABG. He complimented ABG and informed us that the overall culture of the firm is extremely employee-friendly, caring, trusting in people's ability to get work done, and providing them with unwavering support. This culture runs deep into the organization, from workmen doing manual labour to contract employees working in retail to people working abroad. In fact, Mr. Singh feels that the organization is mindful of the journeys and careers of the employees and takes good care to provide an enriching experience to them. “There is a mutual sense of bonding within the organization”, he added. His valuable advice to all B-school students aspiring for a career at ABG is to be ready to tackle all kinds of projects. "Students should go to ABG with an open mind and expect anything and everything", he opined. According to him, for any new employee, being at ABG is an enriching experience which teaches a lot and helps in the overall development of the employees. He says that new hires should expect a very diverse exposure - engagement with people in different departments and at various levels in management and be ready to take on a broad range of assignments. Moreover, he added that along with a challenging work environment that pushes you to your limits, work is going to be a lot of fun too. He concluded the interview by saying, "Aditya Birla Leadership Program (ABLP) is a brilliant launchpad for a career in the corporate world. It is an open stage for the new hires to perform". He mentioned that the ABLP is regarded very highly within the Group and is like a badge of honour for young professionals. He advised the students to perform and deliver as expectations from them would be high. The program will empower them, and they will be trusted with a lot of responsibilities.  In the end, he wished students the very best for the future.
