The results of Summer Saga 2016, our annual summer internship experience contest, are finally out!

This year, we saw over one hundred entries where students from top B-schools across the nation penned down their 60 day journey as summer interns in the corporate world. We believe that the internship experiences will help the next batch of students get insights and valuable feedback about companies, especially learn more about the work culture, thereby helping them make informed decisions during the summer placements process. (Psst! It's almost time for us to release the Annual Recruitment Rankings 2016, which also provides useful information about recruiters. Help us to help you. Take the survey here.) Before we get to the results, let see what our judges have to say about this year's stories - Aarti Jhingon, Employer Branding & Campus Relations, Group HR, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) 'The stories were wonderful to read. They were well structured and articulated. One can get great insights into the culture of a company and details about the project. There were a couple of myth busters about companies as well. These experiences will certainly be a value add to the students.' Miti Vaidya, Core Team Member, InsideIIM.com & Konversations.com 'It was great reading about what's trending in the summer internships this year. Some of the stories were narrated in such an innovative manner; that was fun. More than anything else, I think these stories will give a fantastic sneak preview to the current juniors about what to expect in the summer of 2017; hope they will use the next few months to gear up accordingly!'   Judging Criterion There were three main criterion that judges looked at – Usefulness to readers and future interns (20 points), How Interesting it is to read (10) and Traffic - Number of unique people who read the experience and spent over 90 seconds on the page.   Sales and Marketing And General Management Nikita Variava from JBIMS Mumbai bagged the first prize in this category for sharing her internship experience at Abbott India Ltd. You can read her story here. She wins a cash prize of Rs 7500. "A lot of hard work has been put in while writing this article," says Miti. She also happens to have the highest social media score among all the winners. Well done, Nikita!     Followed by her in this category is P Karthik from IIM Lucknow for his internship story at Aditya Birla Group. Read his story here. He wins a cash prize of Rs 2500. Miti loved the way Karthik used the analogy of an adventurous hike to describe his internship experience. "Informative, AND interesting - Like!". He has the second highest social media score, after Nikita.     Banking and Finance In this category, Gaurav Gupta from SCMHRD Pune bags the first prize for his internship story at DBS Bank. You may read it here. He wins a cash prize of Rs 7500. "A good, detailed summer internship story with summarized learnings", says Aarti. He has the third highest social media score.   In second place comes Deepankar Mathur from XLRI Jamshedpur for his internship story at Rothschild. You can read it here. He wins a cash prize of Rs 2500. "This story is a great description of what it actually means to be an investment banker - I would recommend it to all aspiring I-bankers.", said Miti.     Operations/Supply Chain/E-Commerce/Vendor Management/Process Manthan Shah from IIFT Delhi bags the first prize here for his internship story at EBay. You can read his story here. He wins a cash prize of Rs 7500. "A concise, informative and well balanced story", said Miti.   Next up we have Saunak Basu from IIM Calcutta for his internship experience at Ocwen Financial Solutions. Read his story here. He wins a cash prize of Rs 2500. "In-depth description of the company, its culture, the work involved, etc. Extremely informative", said Aarti.     Consulting, HR and Others Anuya Thorat from TISS, Mumbai won the first prize in this category for sharing her internship experience at KPMG. Find her story here. She wins a cash prize of Rs 7500. "Concise, but informative", said Miti.   Bhavesh Mittal from IIM Bangalore bags the second prize in this category for his internship story at McKinsey & Company. You can read his story here.  He wins a cash prize of Rs 2500. "Honest, genuine and nicely written; the focus on the takeaways and lessons add a nice touch; will prove useful to aspiring students", said Aarti.     Campus with most enthusiastic interns When you participate, you get noticed. This year with 18 entries, IIM Indore had the most enthusiastic participants among all. They have been ambassadors not only to their B-school but also to their companies. While they may not have won the top prize, they have been great representatives of their institute's brand and legacy. For example, Neha Adiga's internship story at Tata Steel would definitely inspire many to be at IIM Indore. It would also be worthwhile to mention that IIM Lucknow came second with 9 entries, IIM Bangalore and IIFT third, with 8 entries each and IIM Visakhapatnam and XIMB with 7 entries each.
