I’m Karthik and I hail from Chennai. The journey up until IIM has been an interesting ride thus far, right from my schooling from Chennai to my undergraduate from IIT Patna.
Pursuing management education from an IIM was my dream. Once I received the offers, it was now up to me to decide where I would pursue my higher education. I did my homework on all the newer IIMs from whom I’d received the offers. There were a lot of great accomplishments for the other newer IIMs but somehow IIM Trichy always managed to stand out. One of the major factors that swayed me towards IIMT is their NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) ranking of 15 in the most recent list, second only to Udaipur when compared to the newer IIMs.
Trichy has always been a stupendous hub for any student to pursue their education. The state-of-the-art permanent campus and the resources available here, be it for learning, leisure or accommodation has been built with the mindset of giving the other top class management institutions a run for their money.
Once I joined, I met a lot of weird and fun folks here who’ve taught me that a competitive environment such as this can teach you to focus on the experience as well. I thought it was the destination that we were going towards that mattered, but the peers and faculties here are making us realize that it is the experience that matters.
The classes and the methodical learning has been a little bit of a different adaptation for me. The dynamic atmosphere, brainstorming sessions, rigorous deadlines is defining a competitive culture, here at IIM Trichy
When I reached the campus and met with some of our faculty members, any doubts that I had disappeared, and in its place was the belief, that IIMT would help me become a better version of myself over the course of the next two years.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for “Pantaloons Fashion & Retail”. From my overall experience in the industry, I’ve observed that change is the only consistent solution. Be it success or failure, change always drives the company on a better path. The fashion industry excites me with the number of dynamics it presents and the opportunities it involves. I feel there is a lot of untapped potential in a few areas that we can definitely work to tap into.
