My Journey In IIM Shillong - Krishan Kapoor

“Filled with joy and enthralling spirit,

We came to the campus of clouds which seem to never limit”

Popping up with the notification of converting IIM Shillong and enrooting from various places to Meghalaya was an exciting journey for most of us. We all were with full of energy as we were going to start our lives as an IIM student. Reaching Guwahati airport and then while travelling to Shillong, we realized that we had made the right decision and this place is full of vitality and fervor. The pristine mountains on the way and the serpentine roads were giving us the feeling as if we have arrived in heaven. Reaching the beautiful and the lush green campus we finally found an abode for our creativity and learning for the next 2 years.

“Apart from all the differences we had,

Though we were skeptical, that was our bad!”

Gradually, we started interacting and knowing each other and forming new relationships. Everyone was little wary in the starting forming new friends but eventually we started to like each other habits and activities.

“The first few days were full of crest and trough,

The whole module though made us tough”

As we were embarking on our journey in the B-school but were forgetting the “A” part for the same, and that were the assignments. We were made habitual with the workload of corporate culture as some were freshers and some were having the work experience, so to bring everyone on the same floor of learning, this was necessary. The idiosyncrasy with our environment is must and that’s what we finally developed

“Far was the home and far were the friends,

The time has come to change the trends”

Sometime later, we started feeling homesick and since we knew that we were not going to meet our family and friends for next 1 year, we were getting more emotional. But sustainability program – exclusive program at IIM Shillong depicting the importance of resources around us- taught us the meaning of life and purpose of our existence. It motivated us that we are the part of such a prestigious institution are the change masters and can bring change to the world through our ideas. There is a traditional trek organized by the college every year for the new students where we go to Mawflang and for trekking. For most of us, this is the most memorable event in our lives because the serene beauty which we saw after reaching the top of the hills can only be felt and can’t be explained in words. Thus, started the journey of “Campus in the Clouds”….

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

I am interested in cement sector as it helps people to reach their dreams by having the houses and buildings of their choice. Ultra Tech Cement Limited of Aditya Birla Group is the largest producer of Grey and White cement in India and is also one of the leading producer globally. Ultratech Cements is both people oriented and technical oriented and provides with various big projects, which will help me to learn more and have a broader horizon for my career ahead. Also, with my past experience in job and internship, I will look forward to increase the productivity of the company.
