May 29th 2018, just like any other day I was sitting on my desk at my office and analyzing the work. At 5:48 PM I get a mail from IIM Tiruchirappalli admission office. The mail was an offer of admission which congratulated me and invited me to join Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli. The next few minutes I was in complete euphoria, not aware of the things happening around. However, half an hour later, at 6:20 PM I get admission emails from few other new IIMs. The next few days I spent most of my time in analyzing all the IIM calls I received.
After 2 days of complete research, I weighed my pros and cons and made up my mind to accept the offer from IIM Tiruchirappalli. Tiruchirappalli(also known as Trichy) is a major Tier II city and is among the cleanest cities in India. The Institute started operating from its permanent campus from August 2017. The campus is a widely spread ad acquires 175 acres of land. One of the major forces driving my decision to choose IIM Trichy is the number of permanent faculties in the Institute, i.e 35.
The interaction with the faculties would be easier because the Student to Faculty ratio being low. Since its inception in 2011, IIM Trichy has been performing well in placements. In 2017, the Institute was successful in placing all the 172 students who appeared for the recruitment. Also, one of the major decisions that influence me to join IIM Trichy is the higher percentage of 2+ years of work experienced students in the institute. The 2018 graduating batch had 28% of students with 2+ years of work experience. With me carrying 3 years and 10 months of work experience, IIM Trichy is definitely a major positive point as the interactions in the classroom would be very informative.
As per the NIRF ranking by the MHRD, Govt of India, IIM Trichy is ranked 15th among the management Institutes in the country. A state of the art sports complex will be ready in the coming months. The complex will have the Swimming pool and all kinds of Indoor games. The outdoor sports team have been performing very well and have won the competitions in the Sangram event in
2017, a sports meet of the IIMs in the south – IIM Bangalore, IIM Trichy, IIM Kozhikode and IIM
Vishakhapatnam. I having represented my college football team in Under-graduation, seeing such a
great football team in IIM Trichy is a major boon.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would look forward to work for the Aditya Birla Group Telecom sector (Idea cellular). I have 3years and 10months of work experience in my previous organization and I have built a good Interpersonal and communication skills. I would carry my previous experience along with my knowledge gained in IIM Trichy to showcase my Managerial skills for the department of Sales & Marketing in Idea cellular.
