A.Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life. Since my childhood days, I have always been fascinated by the idea, “What ADITYA BIRLA is all about and why so?” Being born in a small town of Odisha, named Jharsuguda, I saw rapid industrialization and development taking shape. Everyone was talking about the opportunities and the development which this phase was going to bring along with it. Aditya Birla, being an Indian conglomerate with an accounted legacy of 162 years, having diversified business like mining, aluminum production, retail, finance, cement, telecom, power etc, was the talk of the town. Being a child with limited knowledge, I just knew that Aditya Birla was a significant name and was important for the grown-ups. This is how, Aditya Birla became a house-hold name for me. As the days passed, I lived the life of a Banjara, travelling from one city to another, living through the memoirs of my childhood encountering different brands of this famous childhood name, such as, one of the largest cement units at Dhutra, Aluminum smelter plant at Lapanga (which was recognized and awarded for its efforts & contribution towards women empowerment and livelihood generation program), Hirakud FRP etc. Hence, my curiosity to know its significance also intensified. And one fine day when I joined college, and was instructed to change my wardrobe altogether within the end of the day, the brand that came to my rescue was Pantaloons, with affordable and high quality desired clothing requirements. Not only this, after a few years during the placement season of the engineering college, I was asked to buy formals. I visited many brands but nothing significant was available for women formals, and brands like Allen Solly & Van Heusen didn’t let us down. And soon it became my personal favorite brand. The story doesn't end here! As soon as I joined post-graduation, and was introduced to different industry practices, I came across the EVP(Employees Value Proposition) principles (that the company follows based on it’s 4 pillars, i.e., career growth, learning & self-development, rewards & recognition, and enrichment of life) which helped me to base my motive of studying human resource management for the betterment of the society. B.How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far? During my second year of engineering, I joined Feeding India as the lead for Food and Beverage department in which, apart from my departmental activities, I had to organize recruitment drives & donation drives and had to visit many shelter homes, orphanages, schools in close association with the Talent Management team. This drove me to pursue HR as a profession at a very early stage of my life. And so in the 3rd year, I started preparing for the different management exams that are being conducted in India. Impressed by my work and dedication in various social and college groups, I was being selected for the post of Cultural Secretary of the Technical festival, Yantriki, in the 4th year. And this is where my challenges started to step in my life. I, along with one of my friends had to manage 100 subordinates under us, which consisted of students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. And unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstances my partner had to go on a leave for one month and the whole work pressure fell under my shoulder, just when I had to perform well in my entrance as well to pursue my newly found passion. We started working in October and the fest was due in February. This was the first such event that I had to strategize, implement and organize. Conflicts in the ideas and way of working started arising within the team. The pressure of performing well in the Fest, in the entrance as well as my academics were very challenging. Then, I had to remodel my whole schedule to meet demands on both the ends. After which, I took the decision to discuss the issues related to the fest with the senior management, they along with me and the team members came to a consensus and as a result I was able to conduct the fest successfully and at the same time was able to achieve my targets for pursuing my passion. And this is how by planning strategically and realistically, I overcame my challenges to meet my goals.
