Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
Being a fashion enthusiast always, the first time I recognized Aditya Birla Group was through Pantaloons, a synergistic core that acted as the nucleus of fashion, especially for the place I come from. I vividly remember the hustle it created when it inaugurated its first store in Odisha. Even long before this, the logo of the brand always had an image in my mind due to its age old cement supplies to approximate every house next door. What admires the most about it is its diversity of expansion that connects through diverse industries highlighting the point that all great things can come under the same roof. But the reason of being big is not only because of its vast spread business but also on the basic fact that it creates a difference in terms of spreading smiles across millions of faces. With a huge and diverse employee base of about 120000 operating across 34 countries in 42 different nationalities, it has created a locality that grows and spreads smiles across the whole world. Its efforts of being the cause of change is clearly evident through its sustainable practices and real time based strategies. It is big in the way it can introspect into such innovative and valuable ideas that insures the holistic development of the brand as a whole. One of the lines said by Mrs Rajashree Birla, philanthropist and director of ABG was, “create an articulated social vision and embed it in business vision”. This philosophy of caring and giving is what makes ABG big for me, as it motivates and influences to work more than just attaining business goals.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambition in life so far?
Challenges are an inevitable part of our lives, and there will be no element of surprise if I say that we tend to feel, facing more challenges when we are on our way to achieve something. Having studied in a Jesuit school having an ICSE course structure in itself was never an easy way to go. Discipline and sincerity took the forefront, and curriculum set in a way that one could get a real time experience of effective utilization of time. Even in my higher secondary days, a daily schedule of 6 to 9, with school and coaching being lined at a stretch, sparing me just the meal hours, were quite normal. Those two years made me realize my potential as well as patience of waiting for things to work out in my favor because giving up was never an option for me anyways. In my graduation years the challenges that I faced were more field based rather than academics. Handling people and aligning them to the goals was one of the greatest challenges I faced during the time of events. I learned how one has to maintain composure for its team to function in a right way even when situations are not so pleasant. I progressed a step towards achieving my goals by fighting my own weaknesses and enhance my strengths by extracting the best out of opportunities. It was all smooth till I realized I had to prove my abilities by forgoing various examinations that would bring me closer to what I had sweat for, so long. It was a roller coaster ride from fulfilling expectations to fighting one’s own depression and demotivation that brought me to what I have today.
