IIM Rohtak, the 8th and Oldest among the 2nd generation IIMs has been one of the fastest growing IIMs in India with a variety of achievements brought over by its esteemed faculty and meritorious students.
Add to it the distinct advantage it has geographically, being placed a small drive away from the commercial hub of Delhi, the capital of the nation and NCR consisting of commercially lucrative Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad region. IIM Rohtak has been growing steadily over the years boosted by being the first IIM of North India region and the only in the prosperous Delhi NCR region.
Established in 2009 under the mentor institute IIM Lucknow for the first 3 years, sowing the seeds of rigour in the nascent college culture. IIM Lucknow supported the college in the initial years providing faculties who to till day share a special bond with us. The college operated in Rohtak’s sprawling Maharishi Dayanad University (MDU) campus till this year where all the facilities were available to IIM Rohtak’s students. Spread across an enormous 600 plus acres, MDU has a wide range of facilities available including sports which helped IIM Rohtak focus more on core facilities like library, journal subscriptions, teaching staff etc. Despite external factors working against, we have finally achieved the 1:1 gender parity in the latest batch with 123 female joining the course thanks to the immaculate selection process and trust of aspirants in quality of IIM Rohtak. In September 2011, IIM Rohtak signed an MoU with Kelley School of Business, Indiana University for organising joint research projects and academic programmes besides faculty and student exchange.[23] In 2012, IIM Rohtak became the fifth IIM to get membership of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The institute also signed MoUs with Singapore Management University for visiting faculty and scholars and with California State University, Fullerton for setting up center of excellence at each institution in 2013. This ensures that world-class education is imparted to the students.
To facilitate a budding entrepreneur in his/her startup ventures, Bizdome Incubation Council was launched in 2015 as a business incubator. The council was identified as one of the 18 technology business incubators to be scaled up as per funding model of Department of Science and Technology as a part of Startup Action Plan, an initiative of the Government of India to help and support start-ups.
To encourage transparency IIM Rohtak adopted Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) framework in 2016 becoming the second IIM to get its placement reports audited by CRISIL. The audited report shows a clear picture of the institute’s growth and brand value in the corporate world.
IIM Rohtak has a total of 13 committees and 10 clubs and organises events such as ManSum (earlier ManCon), Udaan E Cell, Infusion, TedX, Mini Marathon and Social Development Projects Cell (Sparsh and Every Child In School (ECIS)). In 2018, IIM Rohtak became the first IIM to launch a dedicated Sports Management programme.The programme consists of modules comprising of different facets of sports industry and with the advent of IPL and ISL etc, the need for such programmes is imminent.
