My experience of the journey to land in IIM Raipur!
While studying my undergraduate I made up my mind to do pursue masters in Business Management. That leaves me to question which college? As Indian economy is in a healthy growth rate of 7.1% it is important to study and understand the dynamics of Indian business network so, I crossed off all foreign MBA programs. In India, no other college offers the education and brand value the IIM offers. Hence I appeared for CAT exam and got selected for Common Admission Procedure Interview for 9 colleges (Bodh Gaya, Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Sirmaur, Trichy & Udaipur). I received admits from 8 IIMs except for Trichy. Finally, it boils down to Why did I choose IIM Raipur to pursue my Master's and how I have decided?
To begin with many go on the face value of Rankings that are published by coaching institutes, magazines or blogs. But I begin my research by visiting each of their college websites and analyzed their Faculty, Placement report, International relations and campus life. The best inputs I received are by talking with seniors of respective colleges and fellow aspirants. Also, I wouldn't forget to mention InsideIIM.com for helping me to find out culture in IIMs.
The final part why I chose IIM Raipur? First of all IIM Raipur has got the best International student exchange program from Eighteen Premier Business Schools of the World in thirteen countries. 55 students have visited from PGP 2016-18. This helps in building the International Business Environment, Cross-Cultural Management & International Learning. Second, IIM Raipur is shifting into new campus built in 200 Acres at Naya Raipur in the academic year 2018-19 which makes us more integrated into the student culture and it is in close proximity to Vivekananda Airport aids students getting Better Placements & many Guest Lectures. Third, no article ends without talking about placements IIM Raipur offers placements in various Industries such as Banking, Manufacturing, IT, Consulting and FMCG from 150+ companies with the class average of 12.54 LPA but the best thing is top 50 Percentile has an average of 15.76 LPA.
Bolstering to above points, the amazing campus stories shared by students from previous batches about the culture, diversity and close-knit student fraternity has made me decide IIM Raipur to pursue my masters.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Capital Ltd. (ABCL) in ABG. It is one of the largest financial services players in India which would help me build my career in the financial sector and create a niche for myself. Be it financial services or Insurance service I am up for it. In next 2 years, I want to do majors in finance and attend various competitions to gain awareness in industry trends and expectations of this Industry.
