The author of this article is slightly eccentric, like most TISS-IANS. Please take her advice with a PINCH OF SALT. Tagore had once remarked “…it is so difficult to be simple”. Amidst the likes of CAT, XAT, IIFT, SNAP, NMAT and a host of other exams, TISSNET could be termed as a “simple exam”. The pattern is clear - objective test, 100 minutes, no negative marking, the breakup is - General Awareness 40 marks, English Proficiency 30 marks, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning 30 marks. TISS has also shared a tentative list of topics to prepare for the exam –   A cursory glance at the above tells us that LR, DI, Mathematics, VA and RC can be tackled effectively by most MBA aspirants. For the ones who have mastered simple concepts, it is “the golden ticket” to TISS. However, the section that determines selection is good old General Awareness (GA). It is prudent to go through last year’s question paper (shared on the official website of TISS) - Click here At this juncture, it is important to keep one’s nerves calm and brush up basic concepts in all areas, especially GK. However, it is more important to maintain cool in the examination hall and mark each answer correctly. There is no sectional cut off, so one can always play to one’s strength. To get a feel of the exam, try and attempt the official mock - here. Overall cutoffs range from 71 to 78 and it would be foolish to predict this year’s cutoff basis past data. All the best for TISSNET on 7th January 2017. I’ll be waiting for you to arrive at TISS campus and take a feel of my home for the past two years.     ------------- About the Author: Anwesa Nanda considers doling out advice to all those who seek it. Food, books and sloth define her. At TISS, she has had her share of “redefining conventions”.
