IIM Rohtak shortlist is out now. Some of you will have done really well to get the call. We thought it would be a great opportunity to meet the soon-to-be senior batch at IIM Rohtak to ask them about tips to prepare for WAT/PI and quiz them about Life at IIM Rohtak. Although this chat will initially be done LIVE for 1 hour, we plan to keep it open for further queries. However, those queries will be solved by IIM Rohtak students periodically thereafter and you won’t get responses LIVE.

Hello. First of all thanks for this great helping hand. I would like to get a few tips for WAT and PI. I am a mechanical engineering graduate 2015. I worked for 6 months.

Hello Swagat. Kindly read the newspaper daily, especially the editorial and business section of it. The interviewers are interested in how you analyse the news. So, develop an opinion of current news backed by information. Also, be thorough with your role at your workplace. Please revise your core subjects like Thermodynamics, HMT, Operations Management etc of Mechanical Engineering.

What is the duration of the WAT? Is it a test pen-paper based or online?

Swagat, last year the duration of WAT was 20 mins and it was paper-pen based.

Can we expect questions on what we write in WAT?

Swagat, be prepared for any questions. The interviewers may not know exactly what you've written in the WAT, but they may ask you point blank. You will have to defend your views in front of them.

I do not possess proves of few of my curriculars that I did in school but I can answer any questions based on those. Are those going to be considered void in the interview?

Swagat, it's better to carry the proofs of your extra-curricular activities. However, if you don't have the certificates, don't mention them in your form. However, you can talk about them in your PI.

Swagat, if you don't furnish the proofs, their weightage will not be considered during the preparation of the final shortlist.

Hello Team. I'm currently working in an IT company and have a workex of 47 months. I have my WAT/PI on 15th. Do I need to touch up my graduation subjects? I've been out of touch for a long time now.

Dear Harish, since you have 47 months of work-ex, interviews are likely to revolve around your work-ex. However, you may brush up the basics of your graduation subjects. Also, be thorough with the current happenings. All the best.

Thanks. Another query, are there any facilities to support the students in their entrepreneurial ventures? I know some IITs and older IIMs have E-cells.

Dear Harish, there is a deferred placement policy at IIM Rohtak. You can appear in the placement process even after two years if you start your own venture. E cell is very active committee and recently we have launched our Incubation centre also.

Harish, IIM Rohtak is currently based in Maharshi Dayanand University. It has a rich sports culture with a gigantic sports complex. It is complete with 2 cricket fields, football stadium, tennis and volleyball courts, a swimming pool, a gym and indoor badminton courts. Be assured, we have a great sports fest held in January where many renowned colleges participate.

Hi Sonali, you may brush up the important concepts of your stream. Also, it is advisable to be thorough with your favourite subject. Apart from this, work on your USPs which differentiates you from others. Many a times interviews turned around if you can start an interesting conversation on the topic on which you are comfortable with. Lastly, keep yourself updated on current happenings. ATB.

ear Naman, you don't have to appear for the WAT/PI process of New IIMs. Your score would be taken from the older IIMs. However, fill the new IIMs form to be on the safer side. All The Best.

Dear Naman, you don't need to fill the form. Those who have been called by more than one older IIM will have their WAT & PI score averaged for further processing. All the best.

Hi Akash. It can be defended as long as you can give a rational reason behind it. Don't beat around the bush.

Gursewak, you can easily leverage upon your profile. Try to intrigue the interviewers on the USPs you just mentioned. Accident won't cause any harm in your selection processes if you convince them on your skills. All the best.

Jadheer, IIM Rohtak is currently based in Maharshi Dayanand University. The campus expanse is huge, more than 500 acres. The scenery is lush green with enviable infrastructure in terms of sports complex and other recreational facilities. The campus is centrally located with medical facilities and the market located nearby. IIM Rohtak is planning to move to its new campus by June next year.

Hi Shivendu. Module refers your PI slot, i.e. Morning/Afternoon. Kindly answer the name of IIM you really want to join. You don't have to please the interviewers by preferring the IIM the interviewers belong to. Honesty is respected in the interviews and you will convert, if you perform well in the interview, irrespective of the IIM you prefer in your answer.
