With a lot of excitement in heart and apprehensions in mind, I entered the grand premises of Mahindra Park on a bright Saturday afternoon. We were greeted with a welcome note and a box full of chocolates placed neatly on our respective beds. Spacious apartment with all the basic facilities helped threw early anxieties out of the window.
Introduction to the world of Mahindra was finely tailored that helped us understand what this federation of businesses really stood for. On Day 1, after crossing the wonderful sea link, we landed at the gates of Mahindra Towers, Worli. After having a delicious breakfast, the session began with a witty ice breaking interaction among the GMC interns.
Next four days constituted face to face interactions with the revered personalities of the industry. We all had some idea about scope and scale of the Mahindra group but were pleasantly surprised when we actually got to hear about them in depth and also got to know about some of the exciting domains in which Mahindra had its presence, eg Saboro, Club Mahindra. Discussions ranged from the future of businesses(Pininfarina) to philosophy of life(self discovery). We were also introduced to the core philosophy of the group, ie, to “Rise” which meant taking challenges head on and along its way, enabling everyone to grow. We also had fun sessions consisting of puzzles, board and card games, which helped us in knowing each other better.
We also got the opportunity to meet Mr. Anand Mahindra at his Gateway Office. He opened the floor for enriching conversations and along the way shared his wisdom. I also got to ask questions from Mahesh Babu, CEO of Mahindra Electric, the domain in which I’ll be doing my internship. Finally, I received a cordial welcome from the team I will be working with, who had made me comfortable by the end of the day.
Last day of induction was kept for enabling us to think outside of the box and provide us a launchpad to deal with the challenging problems we had been assigned. It consisted of finely tuned interactions with awe inspiring frameworks and insightful deliberations.
Dear diary, its been an awesome week. Looking forward to fill it with more enriching experiences as they come.
