Are you an MBA student? Are you an aspirant? Do you know how you’re going to go about your career? In this video, we spoke to some students of SIMSR, who talk about their involvement in extracurricular activities, their achievements and how it all has helped them in their internships and careers.

Prasad Gaikwad and Vaishali Singh come from engineering backgrounds. While they had enough technical knowledge, they lacked in communication skills. However, that didn’t deter them from participating in case-study competitions. Their Business Communication Course helped them improve their skills, while the competitions gave them the confidence and exposure to grow. Ashwath Singh Raina and Khushbu Chotalia participated in countless competitions and represented SIMSR in several case study competitions. Utilizing the skills and concepts learned in classrooms, they managed to succeed. Getting an opportunity to work on real-life case studies in these competitions, they managed to gain real experience, which in turn prepared them for their internships. So much so that their juniors began looking up to them as valuable resources for guidance and advice. Abhishek Bawa published several papers during his MBA. He was awarded the top 5 best equity research report at an intra-college level. In addition, he was also awarded the best summer intern award. He did his internship with L&T Finance, who also offered him a PPO. In this video, he speaks about how all these achievements added value to his profile, making him a very desirable candidate. Shikhar Mohan was always interested in learning Mandarin. Taking advantage of the foreign language electives offered at SIMSR, he not only managed to study Mandarin, but also got a chance to present a paper in China. Shikhar speaks of how China is an emerging market, and how he is planning on starting a business in China. Tina Jain started her own NGO, Abhikalpana, which she managed alongside her MBA. She got a chance to present her project at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. She speaks about her experience in running her own NGO, and how she plans to approach a career in the corporate world.   Key Takeaways:
  1. Extracurriculars utilise your skills and concepts you learn in classrooms. By participating in extracurriculars, you will get real experience that prepares you for the corporate world.
  2. The more you participate, the more chances you have of winning. These achievements reflect positively on your CV, making you a desirable candidate.
