What makes our campus unique?
The campus of IIM Udaipur is in itself unique. We call it our ‘Hogwarts.’ IIM Udaipur is located amidst Aravalli hills around 15 km far away from the city. It is known for its massive infrastructure, innovative architecture and lush green mountains. The 300 acres campus is one of the largest among all the educational institutions in India. Though the college is under construction stage, it has fully equipped 77-seater classrooms, library, canteen, hostels, gymnasium, football ground, placement office, incubation centre, administrative office and a Bloomberg laboratory.
One of the core values of IIM Udaipur is ‘Environmental Consciousness.’ The campus is eco-friendly. In total, there will be five lakes, which are under construction. Some of these lakes will be used as a water harvesting system. Also, there are wastewater treatment plants, solar power farm, vermicompost, and bio gas producing plants coming up to make the campus self-sufficient as well as environmentally friendly. These facilities will eventually lead to more job generation for the people in Udaipur and surrounding regions.
When coming to the hostels for us, there are six hostels built as of now, one for girls and 5 for boys. The hostels are called as ‘Clusters.’ These hostels are equipped with all the basic facilities such as a microwave oven, induction stove, refrigerator, washing machine, and clothes drying stand. Apart from that, hostel rooms are air-conditioned, and each room has Wi-Fi and LAN ports for a comfortable living. Most of the rooms have a breath-taking mountain view from large windows. Students who get these rooms are regarded as lucky. To make the stay more comfortable for everyone, there are special bathrooms for differently abled students. These hostels will be ‘Home’ for the two transformational years of any students’ journey.
Students gather near the mess area, sit on the stairs, study and gossip for hours. Many times, people sit in silence watching the scenic mountains covered by clouds during the rainy and winter seasons. There is a television room, on the way from the hostels to the academic block. Sports enthusiasts gather there to watch football and cricket matches. For midnight carvings, there is a night canteen open which serves the variety of dishes within an affordable budget for students. There is no problem of transportation to the city from the campus as there is a shuttle service at a scheduled time.
Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?
If given an opportunity, I would like to work in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail sector. With a strong inclination towards fashion industry and after doing some fashion stints and with some good knowledge about this industry, I believe this would be one of the area of interest for me. With globalization, Indian population is becoming more fashion aware and with the increasing disposable income, people prefer to spend more on ready-to-wear clothing. I can apply the management skills and frameworks learnt during these 2 years at the premium institute ‘IIM Udaipur’ to the fashion industry.
