As Hans F Hansen says, “It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone”. I would state that IIM Raipur has created a niche for itself, among all the other IIMs. When I first came to know that the campus comprises one tall building, the only thought was how all the facilities are available under one roof like classrooms, hostel, mess, offices, library etc. But at the end of the day, I realised that I was in a top class management institute and that was a perfect instance of how things work.
The most unique feature that I observed here is the culture, which all over the years, has been developed by the students guided by mentors .the discipline that is inculcated in the incoming batch is of utmost importance. From the very first day, we are taught to follow the code of conduct like being in formal attire for classes and no mobile phones to ensure that there is no element of distraction in the classes and we put in the best of our efforts.
Secondly, being in the central region of India, IIM Raipur boasts of the cultural diversity that has become a distinctive feature of the institute. Students from each and every corner of the country are studying here. And not just cultural, IIM Raipur also maintains a healthy ratio in terms of students coming from various backgrounds. The students of IIM Raipur have come from very diverse educational backgrounds ranging from engineering, medical sciences, charted accountant and pure sciences. This is also coupled with a uniform distribution amongst them in the case of work experience, with representation from industries such as information technology, infrastructure, manufacturing, consultancy, healthcare, audit, banking among others.
Talking about unique features of IIM Raipur, how can one leave the Student Exchange Program aside. IIM Raipur offers one of the most robust international student exchange programs among the premier b-schools of the country. It currently has standing MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) with close to 20 international partners across the globe, spanning across several continents including Europe, Australia, the Americas, and of course Asia. IIM Raipur is a league ahead of any of the new IIMs in the Student Exchange Programme. The universities that Institute has partnered with are some of the best in the world, with many of them featuring in the top 100 and a lot more with AAA accreditations, being in the top 10 in the respective countries. Moreover, It has formal collaboration with partnering institutes for Student and Staff Mobility, Sharing of Academic Resources and Joint Academic Research. The institute has one of the largest contingents of students going across for this program, with more than 35% of the batch being a part of the international student exchange.
