“Our value provides us with our roots and they provide us with our wings”- These are the words of Mr. Kumar Mnagalam Birla, chairman of Aditya Birla Group. Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest and oldest global premium conglomerates. They use ‘The Power Of 5’- integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness, speed to nurture their values and reach to the top in whatever they do. Their mission is to deliver superior values to customers, shareholders, employees, and society at large. Which differ them from others in the competition.
This is a brand having innumerable products reaching to each and every individual in different ways. Be it from the fashion and retail industry to using Vodafone, from the usage of copper in Indian railways to ultraTech cement in our house, we know where all of this comes from- Aditya Birla Group. The oldest product that I remember was UltraTech cement, when I was a kid and it was being used in my house. Though I did not know the group name that time, I was happy sneaking in and playing with cement when everyone else was asleep. The next one is Pantaloons- a store where I do shopping with my friends and family, giving great joy each time I enter. Coming from a small district (Gaya) in Bihar, I can say that Aditya Birla Group has reached to corners of India and can connect with people everywhere. Be it in corporates for formal garments to party people, from hospitals to the entertainment industry. One of the most memorable experiences of mine was when my sister had an eye operation and we took her to Shankar Netralaya, Kolkata. Aditya Birla Group joined hands with Shankar Netralay to augment eye care service in India.
Coming to the CSR activities that Aditya Birla group does, they have a sustainable CSR segment that works for building a better way of life for weaker section of society and thus helps in raising country’s HDI. They have reached out to over 7.5 million people and have treated a million patients, have provided solar lamps to over 40000 children and have trained 95000 people so that they can sustain their living. They help underprivileged people, have tie ups with various organizations to help them and train women to become entrepreneurs. Many other companies and individuals gain motivation from these activities of this group. I myself have seen many people attending medical camps organized by Aditya Birla Group. And they are really an inspiration. Being an MBA student, these CSR activities shows me a completely different perspective of business benefiting both society and the business.
