The MICAT-1  2022 exam was a mixed-bag in terms of difficulty, with some questions in the Aptitude Section having 8 options, which made it difficult for the candidates. The questions in the Aptitude Section ranged mostly from an Easy to Medium level. As per the analysis by IMS,  an overall score of 35-38 would be sufficient to fetch a GE-PI call, provided the candidate clears the Psychometric Section and the Descriptive Writing section. Here is the overall analysis of MICAT 1 2021 and the predictions. Read on!

Key Highlights And Change In The Test

  1. All the sections in the Aptitude Section saw a mix of questions with 4 options and 8 options. 53 out of 80 questions had 8 options. This was a change as compared to previous MICAT exams.
  2. A 1-Minute break was allowed between different sections.
  3. Navigation between sections was not allowed.
  4. The Aptitude Section (Section C) carried 1 mark per question and 0.25 for each incorrect response.
  5. There are no negative marks for the Psychometric Test and the Descriptive Test.
  6. Psychometric Test is compulsory and the performance in the psychometric test is used as a qualifying criterion for the next stage. Candidates must attempt all the questions in the Psychometric Test to ensure that their paper is evaluated. There were 4 questions in this section, of which 4 were related to each other.

The topic for the first three questions was “Cultural diversity is celebrated while individual efforts are made to assimilate the differences into the mainstream. Then why should we desire diversity?”
