Name an instance where you wanted something and went out of your comfort zone to achieve it? OR Tell us the biggest risk you have taken so far in your life.
I was an engineer from my academic background and got hired into Capgemini from my campus as a Senior Software Developer. Though once in, I got super interested in the kind of work consultants did and wanted to break into the world of consulting. I started following the field very diligently and got started with preparing to get my hands on the first consulting assignment in my business unit. I had to go from learning all the know-how to convincing my team and managers to give me the right opportunity that I look for. I had to put in a lot of extra effort to prove myself in the initial set of projects given to me but finally, it all turned out very well and I very shortly got moved and promoted as an Associate Consultant. It was the perseverance and the excitement to pursue my interest that kept me going.
When was the last time someone relied on you? OR What did you do which was purely for someone else - a truly selfless act?
I am currently on my Student Exchange program in Europe and this was a plan which I made with a very close friend of mine to roam Europe together during our exchange but unfortunately, his Visa got cancelled and he could not travel to Europe and had to halt his plan for travel with me. Recently he got his Visa clearance in the second go and told me that he only got half the time that we planned and would like to complete all the trips that we planned. I instantly froze all my trip plans and postponed everything to accommodate him into my travel plans. We just finished our Switzerland trip together where I planned everything for him and he was just so happy to have this trip with me finally. Made me feel super glad.
Tell us about a time when you disagreed with an opinion/idea/decision. What did you do about it?
There have been multiple instances in my life which I believe are common when we have conflicts with others regarding our Ideas or Opinions. One such recent instance was when I co-founded a new Initiative for creating International outreach for our institute. We had conflicts on the way we wanted to market and the USP we wanted to highlight to the target audience. The way I managed this as well as other conflicts are to follow a clear communication strategy and reinforce within a team that we strive to follow the same goal and should be open about the pros and cons of each alternative. Then follows the approach to understand the other person and their perspective clearly so the ground becomes common for any sort of pro-con argument to follow. This way we resolved the conflict and I personally have found this to work almost always.
What is the one thing you can claim to have some level of expertise or depth of knowledge in - it could be anything - a subject, a sport, a hobby, a venture, an initiative that has led you to do deep work in that field?
I worked for almost two years prior to my MBA as a Consultant. During those two years, I have picked up on one key skill that I believe is the most important subject that I hold knowledge of 'Interpreting Customer Requirements'. More often than not what people ask you to do is not exactly what they expect you to do and there are all sorts of hidden cues and details while doing requirements gathering from your client or receiving expectations from your manager. I have given a lot of active efforts to learn and crack this subject of interpretation of expectations and believe that I have built reasonable expertise on it.
If 10 Million Dollars (approximately INR 73.5 Crores) is given to you to use it any way you deem fit what would you do with this corpus?
As an avid enthusiast of cutting-edge technologies and someone who would want to support the RnD as I understand the potential as well which it can unlock I would like to invest all of it into the RnD of divested different cutting-edge technologies. As far as the return goes I am more than sure it would fetch great monetary as well as non-monetary refunds in long term.
