About Me
My name is Mrudul Parikh and I am from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS).
“Health and wealth may come and go, but character once lost is gone forever”
I have always placed ethics as the most important aspect of life and the above phrase thus reflects my value system and upbringing. Optimism is a quality that can be inherently found in me which compels me to always look for that silver lining when the clouds are dark. Post having secured a top-15 rank during my engineering, I worked with TCS for one and half years where I had the honor of bagging several awards such as "Star of the Month","Best Team", "Star Team" for my excellent performance.
An engineer by qualification, but an entrepreneur at heart, I always have had the drive to start something of my own which constantly nudged me into quitting my company and starting Android freelancing. In no time, I started developing my own applications, some of which have more than 10,000 downloads with 4+ ratings. A strong inclination towards numbers and a forte in the form of my analytical skills, I scored 99.95%ile in CAT and CET in 2014. Currently, at Jamanalal Bajaj, an institution that is widely renowned as one of the best Finance B-Schools, I hold the first rank in Finance Subjects amongst my peers. Post a successful first year at college, I underwent my summer training with Tata Steel. My strong analytical skills coupled with my previous corporate and freelancing experience made it easy for me to break down a seemingly complex project into simpler sub-parts that could be dealt with efficiency and effectiveness which ultimately paved the way towards a PPO. I believe that these 2 years have been instrumental in changing my thought process in a positive way. I have excelled in academics and grown as a person. With my passion and dedication, I believe I am ready to give my best to all that lies ahead.

What have you done in your life that you are most proud of?
I have always had respect for defence forces of our country as they are the reason we are able to enjoy our freedom. I always wanted to do my part to our nation's security. Post-Nirbhaya rape case, the government urged developers from all over the country to develop a women safety application.
I got an opportunity to work on building this application for QVS Pvt. Ltd. - a private company in Mumbai who wanted to develop the application. There were plenty of challenges on our way which took time to get resolved but today we have developed this application and currently it is in the testing phase. This application has plenty of features (cannot be disclosed because of a non-disclosure agreement) and even notifies the nearest police station in case of danger.
A successful launch will be the proudest moment of my life as I will indirectly contribute to protecting women in the country.
If you had unlimited money, what would be that one mobile application that you would create and what problem would it solve?
More than 1.6 million accidents occur in US alone because of distracted driving, while more than 1.4 million people in India die because of use of cell phones while driving. This number is only going to increase in the coming years. Considering at a global level, at least, 65 million accidents (40x of US) occur every year because of distracted driving.
To reduce the number of accidents, I propose a cross-platform application (Android, iOS, and Windows) which would get activated when the phone is connected to the car dock, or phone is in car mode, or manually. The application would do the following things:
1) Track the speed of the car and warn the user if he/she is over-speeding (Speed limit can be retrieved via Google Maps APIs) - Send text message to family members if over-speeding
2) When the speed crosses 5km/hr, the app would automatically disable access to all the messaging apps, games, phone dialer, etc which need constant interaction allowing the user to concentrate on driving. Only certain applications like Google Maps, Music, etc would be accessible.
3) Auto-Reply Feature - Auto-Reply to text messages or other messaging applications (Whatsapp, Hike, etc) stating that the receiver is driving and will reply shortly.
4) Allow messages to be read aloud and reply via voice
5) Operate mobile via voice (similar to Google Voice)
A Tie-up with leading mobile manufacturers to provide this application as an in-built application. This would enable more and more users to use the application would reduce the accidents caused by distracted driving to a great extent.
