ABG has always been a part of my life, be it talking to my father as he was serving in Jhansi, using Idea telecom, when I was 8 years old to buying my first formal wears from AllenSolly when I was 19 years old. ABG operates in various business segments – Telecom, Fashion, Cement, Financial services and Chemical. Starting from Pilani 162 years back, now it has a market reach in 35 countries. The conglomerate giant is contributing in the social and economic development of the communities by building a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raises the country's human development index. It is contributing in Mid-day meals, immunising children against polio, opening schools, providing solar power and much more.
Coming to the impact of ABG on my life, it was the first year of under graduation, everyone was applying for internships and I applied in Aditya Birla for wealth management trainee. It was the first time I applied for any recruitment and I got rejected in the first round i.e GD round itself. During and after the group discussion I realized that there are so many aspects were I was lacking, hence, I started working on building my general awareness, on the spot thinking and communication skills. Just like mine ABG has impacted many lives be it the under privileged children or students who aspire to be a part of Birla schools and colleges, be it their worldwide consumer base or 12000 employees. The group is growing and expanding at a rapid rate by imbibing the five core values - Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed.
Challenge faced and overcame :
The most challenging situation I have faced so far was when I was studying in 12
th standard and 2 months before my board exams my mother was diagnosed with carpel tunnel syndrome. She already is an arthritis patient since past 22 years. Since my father and brother used to live very far away from home due to work commitment, I became the one responsible to take care of my mother, managing household chores, doctor’s appointments and my board exams which were very important for me. The responsibility of handling a house and my studies was quite challenging. I learnt how to prioritize and to utilize my time effectively, efficiency was still a far cry. Keeping aside the part of having to work hard, the more difficult thing for me was to being a mother to my mother. Patients suffering from carpel tunnel syndrome feel extreme restlessness in the affected body part because of blockage of blood flow, so my mother could not sleep at night because of constant restlessness and then I used to massage her hands till she closes her eyes. I learnt how to be emotionally strong during this period and understood that many a times you just have to do whatever is thrown at you. Nevertheless, with constant efforts, new learning and with the support of my classmates and teachers, I excelled in CBSE board examinations and got admission in the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.
